Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia set for renaming

Saphos Trains has announced that one of their regular steam locomotives will be renamed for a special railtour.

70000 Britannia has been confirmed to haul the Golden Arrow Tour on the 26th October, subject to availability.

The loco will be running as long lost 70014 ‘Iron Duke’. which was one of the locomotives that operated the Golden Arrow.

This means that the public will get the rare chance to see her running on the mainline as a long lost classmate, with full Golden Arrow dress. Watch this space

The East Lancashire Railway has announced that 34046 Braunton will be visiting them for a weekend of steamy action in August.

Running alongside sister locomotive, 34092 City of Wells, Braunton will taking part in the West Country Weekend.

This will see the line run with both locomotives for the weekend, operating the Yellow Timetable.

 http://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/events-activities/2019/8/west-country-weekend.aspx

Our very own Ex-Southern Railway Bullied Light Pacific No. 34092 “City of Wells”, along with special guest, and sister engine, Southern Railway West Country class 4-6-2 Pacific No. 34046 “Braunton”, will be taking to our tracks on 23 - 26 August 2019 for an ooh-arr-some weekend!!!

Steam locomotive 76017 to visit the Severn Valley Railway

The Severn Valley Railway has announced that Standard 4 No.76017 will be visiting them for their Autumn Steam Gala.

The gala will run from the 19th September until the 22nd September and will see overnight running, freight trains and an intensive timetable.

76017 will join fellow class member, 75069, and Flying Pig No.43106, in which the design of 76017 was based upon.  The locomotive’s claim to fame came in 23rd September 1954, while working the 7:00 am Banbury to Eastleigh goods; the driver lost control, and 76017 ran through the catch point and down the embankment. No-one was hurt and the engine was rescued by the Eastleigh and Fratton cranes.

be sure to keep an eye out folks !!!!!

Many thanks for these excellent pictures and videos.  When I was a student I mis-spent many happy hours in these locations watching trains and visiting the signal boxes.  Steam was rare, but No. 9 made an occasional appearance.

Thanks again.

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1920s to the 1950s.
