Dapol M7/Metropolitan Railway 0-4-4T E class 3D Print conversion
« on: December 09, 2019, 09:53:47 AM »

Greetings all

After months of painstaking work I will shortly be releasing a print to my Shapeways shop to convert a Dapol M7 to a Metropolitan Railway E class 0-4-4T. Finished with parts from N Brass (chimney, dome etc.), this is my first foray into loco design. I had to do several test prints to get it right but I'm hopeful that I've ironed out the bugs now... More pictures of the prototype soon.

Very interested in one of these - will you also have a list of N Brass parts that will be required?

As/when, be sure to get in touch via the NGS Journal if you want to help promote this via a News item.

Hi King6023,

I already have a spare M7 waiting! I had found drawings of the E Class, and was thinking of a hatchet job on the M7, but a 3d print will be much better! Now who's for some Met coaching stock...   :hmmm:

Dreadnoughts are available from my Shapeways shop, or Ashbury stock is now available from Recreation21.

To show what this body conversion can achieve, here is an example built by fellow forum member Pedanticmongrel. Think you'll agree it's a wonderful result.

Have you tried Radley Models? They certainly have 2mm LT transfers:

https://www.radleymodels.com/transfer-water-slide-check-your-gauge-before-ordering.html

But they also do Metropolitan ones at 4mm and 7mm, so might be able to print off 2mm as a special order?

Reading the build threads here and on FB the following lettering was used: https://fox-transfers.co.uk/alphabet-in-yellow-33624 as no pre done transfers are available.
