Here’s the latest update on our club project.

We’ve been working on the tunnel mouth on the branch line where it disappears into the backscene to the right of the curved bridge.
This morning I have been largely starting to shape the tunnel mouth for the main line. It’ll look so much better in a couple of weeks.
The river has also had its 4th coat of yacht varnish.
Other members have been working on the station (not in the photo). Again, this should be ready for a photo soon.

Looking good, the river is progressing, the bridge sitting under the single line is beautiful, is it scratchbuilt please ?

Thanks.
It is in fact a kit. We inherited it already built but it was straight. We’ve deconstructed it to add the bend (then constructed it again) which, I think, greatly improves it visually.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

A bit more work done on the countryside end of the layout this morning :

It should all start to come together once the rough plastering around the tunnel mouth on the main line is finished and painted next week.
There should also be a lot more work completed on the station end next week as well.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

We’ve been doing quite a lot more work on the layout today.

First, the station area is starting to take shape. The buildings are scratch built by one of our members and still require finishing. Do remember that this is a representation of Bodmin Road not a true to life copy.

The branch line area is  getting there though the rock faces require a final matt finish.
A1ED3FEC-1D29-4B3C-BA22-26EFAB1889CC by martin scane, on Flickr

A few more trees and bits of greenery added plus we’ve applied the first layers of finish around the tunnel mouth on the main line.
The river has had its final coat of yacht varnish which has been just applied in this photo so looks very “shiny”.

And this is an overview of the whole thing.

At the far end, beyond the station, we’ll have a tunnel with the mouth where the bits of wood are balanced. A road will go over the hill down to the station.
A small loco shed is being built to goon the spur near the front and we intend to have a small farm in the area bottom right.

Any comments or suggestions are very welcome.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

Martin. Seriously very realistic of bodmin. Wish i was standing on bodmin. Love the scenic work on the river and around the tunnel area and very inspiring. Thank you. Chris

All looks very good, especially with the late evening sun glinting off the river.
If I have a small criticism it's the greenery railside on the viaduct - maybe a bit too bushy? :hmmm:

It's certainly coming along very nicely, Martin. I also agree about the greenery inside the bridge. In the early 1960s, the PWM workers kept everything looking immaculate. The rocks look very good already.

PLenty of scope for 'through' running, there. Plus, you have the mainline where you can run almost anything!

I’ve been building a little portrayal of a smallholding for a corner of our Bodmin Road layout.
EF5578CB-F835-49DC-8B41-B244E12B06CD by martin scane, on Flickr
Hopefully, when we go over to the club on Wednesday it will fit as per the template I cut last week. Fingers crossed. Just a few finishing touches to complete plus a half relief cottage to go on the small hillside above the smallholding.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.
