1950/60s Rolls Royce
« on: April 16, 2019, 08:04:12 PM »
I am wanting a 1950/60s style Rolls Royce, (in 1:148 not 1:1  :)). Having spent a fair while searching t'internet, I know that Wiking have produced one, but the pictures I have seen do not look very impressive, self coloured radiator grille for starters . Oxford Diecast do not seem to list one, although I suppose I could make do with a Daimler. Does any one know if any are available or can point me in the right direction please?
David.

Don't know of any Rolls Royces of that period other than Wiking's Wraith, but I think the Oxford Princess may be more in period than the Daimler

It looks like I may have been mistaken. I always thought that Sir Donald Cooke, the present occupier of the Manor House , (the subject of the next 'Averingcliffe' chapter), had a Rolls Royce - it would appear that it was an Austin Princess!

Still a nice car.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

Agreed. Maybe a Roller is a bit too pretentious for Sir Cooke - A Princess it is.

As John @Train Waiting has just stated in his 'Poppingham' thread, "But one of the great pleasures of model railways is that one can stop or even reverse time". I am pleased to inform the readers that Sir Cooke has an Austin Princess on order!   :). The next chapter in 'Averingcliffe' may have to be delayed a bit whilst awaiting said delivery and anyway, there is some landscaping to be done in the grounds.  ;)

Let's hope Sir Cooke is somewhat younger than a certain Philip :uneasy:
