New Farish Railcar Sound Install
« on: February 06, 2019, 12:33:44 PM »
After an enforced absence due to ill health I have in the last week managed to complete the sound install which I started soon after they came out last year and as a taster, here's a video of the completed install.

I'll do a tutorial in the coming week and add it to this thread, it's major chassis surgery to get both the decoder (Zimo MX648 and the speaker to fit but well worth the effort I think.  I also managed to get some running lights fitted front and rear, it appears from what I have read that the rear light changed from the built-in version to a normal lamp, at the moment it is using the built in type as it's less obtrusive.  (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it  ;) )

I, too, have the DC model, but am well pleased with it. I DO envy those modelling DCC, though. Lights and sound certainly DO add to the action! Thanks for sharing, Caz, and I'll look forward to your future posts regarding this model.

Well  Iím not  surprised , thatís up to your usual standard Caz , itís good to have you back with us again and that you are a lot better . I wish I had your skills at installing all the  lights never mind the sound . You put some modelers  to shame me included , If I hadnít got so many old Poole built stock locos I would go D C C and get you to do all the modifications for me ,but you know the locos Iíve got and it would cost me an arm and a leg probably a kidney as well .If ever your in the UK you can always visit us again if you want to.

Sorry Malc, no commisions, it's hard enough doing my own conversions these days with all the restrictions I have to abide by.  :worried:

The tutorial is nearly finished, will post it in the next couple of days.

For those interested, here's the "how to" for the sound and lighting install on the Railcar.
