14 minutes into Portillo's programme and no sign of a train yet!

Alec.
You can't beat a nice drop of Southern.

It may have been down to the gobsmacking scenery but I thought last nights was the best Tarrant railway programme I have seen over all the series.

It wouldn't have been down to his personality. :D

Unexpectedly MBH (aka Mistress of the Remotes) put this on. Yes stunning scenery, but neither of us could tolerate Tarrant enough to watch the whole episode! :sick2:

We did the trip up the Jungfrau some years ago, but it was a bit windy, so when we went out onto the viewing platform, we couldn’t see anything because of the white out. It was nice to see what we missed.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Suprised with the comments made regarding the programs last evening. Having only watched the extreme railway program I cannot comment on the Alaskan Journeys only to say if it is like the previous incarnations, the trains are secondary to the actual theme of the program which is mainly about the places visited. Likewise extreme railways main celebrates the overcoming of the problems associated with the building of the railways in remote locations not what trains use the line past or present and gives a good overview which does including some loco and rolling stock items of interest.
I would prefer to have Chris Tarrant presenting who appears to shows a genuine interest in the subject (and would probably do the program for nothing) than the scripted ,edited, faceless commentaries , seen on the recent model railway offering.
