Did I imagine it (or have I missed it) that Oxford Diecast announced at one point that they were going to shrink down their 4mm reach stacker?

Cheers Mike

:'( Imagined I am sorry to say, but an impression supported by the holes in the tops of the containers they supply which replicate the ones on the 00 gauge containers, but are larger to accept what would be larger pins on the N container lifter spreader bars.

Meantime you can wait for the 1950s Shelvoke fork truck which according to OD has been a pig to tool in N. The reach stacker should be easier.

If the catalogue images are to be believed the Volvo FH4 cab on the Cadzow low loader  artic appears to have a different/new cab configuration.

The full catalogue can be viewed and downloaded here:-

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1017/3257/files/JUNE-SEPT_19_low_res.pdf?315

The N stuff is on pages 31-37 and page 43. Looking at the other scales is not recommended unless you are ready to be envious.

Maz Woolley at Model Auto Review has published a report on last week’s Oxford trade presentation including photos of pre-production models in N. Included in these are the new shapes for the Land Rover Discovery and Bristol MW coach.

http://www.maronline.org.uk/oxford-diecast-preview-part-one/

There is also comment on Oxford’s efforts to catch up on the backlog of releases.

Arnold have announced the imminent release of HN6434 which is a set of two DB low sided wagons carrying four BAOR Land Rovers from the Oxford diecast range, which may be a new variation. Can't read the registration numbers in the photo.

Mainly metal diecast?
Maybe in 4mm but the N gauge ones are all plastic.
They look good though pretty sure series 1 landies were out of service by then if used over there at all. Am sure tgere are more knowledgeable guys on here who can confirm either way.

Best wishes
Simon

Well at least the base is diecast. I was surprised to learn that the formation of the second BAOR predated the Land Rover Series 1, and the Cold War began in 1947 according to Wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Army_of_the_Rhine

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_War

The Series 1 88inch was introduced in 1956 when the military were ordering Land Rovers in lots of 200. They served during the Suez Crisis in 1956, so may well have been with BAOR then or later.

Someone on the one of the Facebook Groups suggested that the Land Rover had been shrunk to 1/160 scale, but I am fairly certain it is still the 1/148 scale model, and Hornby are latching on to their current minority shareholding in Oxford Diecast's parent company to provide something different without having to tool from fresh. I also think that the same will apply to the range of food vending trailers coming in the Arnold range.

I had missed Arnold's post about the RENFE version of the flat wagons and Land Rovers (HN6424). They do indeed appear to be a variation of NLAN188001 without registration plates.
