Gem Fleetline (as was) Ransome Rapier 45T crane
« on: November 25, 2018, 10:32:21 PM »
Following on from my other topic regarding out of scale bits and pieces to do with the Gem Fleetline crane this is her after a serious hack about.

The whole central section of the jib has been removed and plastruct bars replaced to give the prototypical open framed jib arm.

The derricks have had their solid wheels for the rigging removed and spoked (should be disced wheels) replaced.

Cab doors and further detail to be added.

Ladders and handwheels on main chassis have been added.

Original weight relieving bogies were the wrong are so have been hacked around. Wheels frames and axle boxes have been added and the heights dropped to look better. Cages containing wood packers will be added. Buffers replaced with exact scale 18" headstock brass buffers.

Match truck has been made to 16ft wheelbase and 29ft overall as per original. Floor cut out and well for block and ramshorn added. Buffers replaced to match exact scale 18" headstock brass buffers.

Quick blast in primer to make her look a bit better. Still loads of detail and work to be added and done to make her more presentable and accurate but an improvement on the original. I hope??
