Sorry, Karl, but I've never heard of it. Maybe a call to Bob at BR Lines might help with either repair or knowledge of where could help. 01287 633036

Those Bachmann Brill trams, and the PCC cars, have a somewhat troubled history as regards their running quality/ability.
I believe they have upgraded the mechanism in recent years, but on the ones I've got (all Brill cars) split gears have been common (same goes for their G-scale trams as well...), which, if one bogie is disabled, it then causes loss of performance.
The first two I bought - about 20 years ago - have both sufered complete failures and have been disposed of. I've still got 3, purchased in the last 10 or so years that are still functioning, though one of those runs fairly erratically at times.
The only N tram that they produce that seems to operate without problems is their Peter Witt car. I have not bought one of those in N (though I have a Baltimore HO one, as I have driven the real thing...), but I do know someone who has one on his layout and has never had any problems with it.

I had issues with a Bachmann A&B powered set, motor speeds were not matched, I phoned Bachmann USA and it was a known issue, they replaced it with a brand new Doodlebug and H/W coach rather than another dodgy A&B unit, all it cost me was the shipping to the US, so I would definitely recommend giving them a call, it may be a known issue and they may help you out.
