This is my second go at posting this, but I'm a stubborn so-and-so. Pressed something on keyboard inadvertently and lost the lot! So here we go again.... Living here in Oz I always find the exhibition programme in the UK so intense to be amazing.

I'm going to be in UK in August (nearly said NEXT year, but OMG it's THIS year! I hate gettin' old!), primarily to watch the Ashes test match in Chester-le-Street, but then on to Scotland & Wales (hopefully lots of narrow gauge... I was on the LAAL RATTY a couple of years ago and it was great, but I want to savour the Welsh narrow gauge).

Anyway, any exhibitions that forum folk know are going to be on Aug-Sept, I would love to write 'em in my diary. Never know, I might be able to get to one!

Maybe even meet the odd Forum person! (or modeller of Japanese prototype )

All the best,

George.  :beers:

Oh, and quickly before I turn in (9.30pm here in Oz) - this is for THEBEATOFYOU....

Paul, I got a radio controlled helicopter and a VOX Tonelab stompbox for me guitar as Christmas presents from my daughters and their boyfriends.

Dunno what happened to my wish list... a Blue Pullman set in stocking?!

All the best, George. :beers:

If you can make it to TINGS, it is N gauge Mecca - just check out the posts about it.
The downside is I am usually there pimping the forum and you'll get your mugshot taken and shown on the forum >:D

 :hellosign:

Hi from Birkenhead in South Australia, we had a warmish 45C today but tomorrow is will be only 32C. A very belated intro of myself having joined just before the Christmas break.
I joined the 2mm Assoc in 1982 after attending an exhibition in Rochdale on a trip to the UK and joined the local P4 club in Adelaide in 1990. My interest in N scale goes back to a Lone Star Treble-O-lectric train set I was given for Christmas more years ago than I care to remember. I have bought the wood to build some modules for a late N LMSR (post WW2) tail chaser to play with and possibly exhibit while I make a start on a 2mm late LMSR/early BR terminus to fiddle yard.

Hey there, SamH!

Yep, you are welcome to your 45 degrees. 30 here as I type this in NSW at 10.30pm.

Lone Star Treblo, eh!? OMG we ARE going back, there (showing me age!).

Experience with P4 and a 2FS layout planned.... I think we can all learn lots from you!

N scale is progressing brilliantly these days and there is a new enthusiasm for it, I think.

Welcome!

Any problems, just shout out and one or more of the members will come to your assistance.

cheers John.

The SA P4 club has more experience as builders labourers than model builders to the point almost having to join the union. We have started lining our new (again) club building after yet another move this time to our own premises located at the St Kilda Tram museum here in Adelaide. Although I am the club president I do not have any P4 models but I do have some P87. Half the members are building a P87 SAR 1950s broad gauge (18.37mm) layout once the construction work is completed later this year, the other half will be making a start on a GWR P4 layout then as well. The building is about 21m x 7m with a meeting room and kitchen at one end. We will have a clear floor area of 18m x 7m for the two layouts and work benches etc. If anyone is in Adelaide let me know.

Hi SamH,
I was there last year for my first visit to SA! Your P4 exploits seem extensive... but now you are thinking about N Gauge? I am intrigued.... I hope it's not 'the hobby starting to seem like work' syndrome.....

 :beers: Cheers, George.

Did you come for the June long weekend train exhibition?

no, mate. Although I have lived in Australia since 1974, I had never been to Adelaide.I was there in July (2011). I did have a ride on a little old mining train, though. It was at a place called Moonta, if I recall.
