Hello all,

In answer to questions, the models are just under 56mm long over buffers, though of course a little allowance needs to be made for coupler spacing.

The weight is specified to NMRA standards and we have found that in the majority of cases running problems are usually down to the odd grabby axle or rubbing brake block, which we are happy to fix or replace, rather than weight.

Having said that, we will consider the weight when assessing the EP1 samples.

The axle cups are  designed to be compatible with 2mmA 2-001 axles of 12.25.

This image shows the brake blocks.  The are a little wider apart than scale to avoid fouling the wheels.

Cheers

Ben A.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the info which is really useful. Compatibility with standard 2FS axles is a nice touch :-)

Sorry, I wasn't very clear about the brake shoes - I wasn't talking about the spacing between the blocks either side of the wheel (though I can see why you might have thought that!) but the "back to back" spacing between blocks parallel to the axle, if you see what I mean? The wider gauge of the 2FS wheels causes them to just foul the brake blocks on the class b tanks and having the shoes spaced a touch further apart (i.e. closer to the solebar) would avoid that. But if you've already planned for 2FS wheels to be compatible then you've probably already thought of this. :-)

Thanks.

Richard

a friend worked the Ditton Widnes  back to Earles sdgs via Weaver jcn & Northwich in the mid eighties driving 45034

the outward trip took the crew to Ditton from Guide Bridge and the rake of Cemflos used to run via Lymm in the booked working.

no wonder i noticed them at arpley yard years ago once the MGR for fiddlers ferry had passed.

Thank you, Bob and Ben. My purchases will be 'Rule One' individual vehicles running in goods trains. At least the time period, 1962 is fine for me. I will just order a pre-TOPS triple pack at random, then. I had thought that there might be detail differences other than just running numbers.

I had thought that there might be detail differences other than just running numbers.

The pre-TOPS versions represent the wagons as delivered new and therefore are pretty much identical save for the numbers.

For the TOPS versions, where there was some variation in application of numbers, warning panels etc this is being recreated, as the livery drawings that come up when you select a particular pack show.

Beyond that there was another batch of Cemflos built I believe by a different manufacturer.  These have significant differences - not just in details - and are beyond the scope of this project.

cheers

Ben A.

Thanks, Ben. That's good to know. I have put down my deposit for the first triple pack of the pre-TOPs ones. I wish the project all success.

It will depend on two things: how quickly we receive orders [to pay for tooling and production!] and how quickly the CAD develops into tooled samples then livery samples.  I'd expect at least 2-3 months yet assuming there are no problems.

Cheers Mike
