I had a look Mick @Newportnobby and could see nowt, yet I knew I had read something on the website. There is a piece though in a newsletter.  Under 'Newsletter', 'Newsletter Archive', no 29 and scroll down a bit until you get to the piece. It's only a small piece though -

"CLASS 128 PARCELS DMU: our headline new offering unveiled at TINGS, the Class 128 parcels cars roamed far and wide from the late 1950s until 1991.  More details are available on our website, though this model is currently at the research stage. We expect the order book to open in Q1 2019."

I can see nothing else.  ???

@dannyboy
I just put that post up in case there was meant to be something there but perhaps had fallen between stools, as they say.

You need to click on Projects rather than just expand it.

You need to click on Projects rather than just expand it.

As the man said, click on Projects (or depending on device, just hover on it), then when you get the list, ignore it, and click on Projects again. That will take you to this page:

There was no news on the Class 128 in the recent newsletter.
Does that mean it is planned much later this year for ordering ?

Hi there,

No, it doesn't mean anything other than there aren't any meaningful updates to share at this time.

The 128 is still at the research stage.  Prototype data gathering is largely done, but we are still working out what different ends/details/combinations etc we need to allow for in tooling and manufacture.

Once that is complete we will have a much clearer idea of the overall scope of the project and how much each model will cost.  Then we can look at opening the order book.

When that happens you can be sure we will publicise it - we are as keen as anyone to get the project moving... however that will probably be Q2 now, rather than Q1.

Cheers

Ben A.

Have there been any developments or is this one dead now?

With Q2 gone and Q3 ending, soon, will it be Q4 or sometime in 2020, now? Has the research stage been completed or close to being? I understand that getting everything right is very important and that there are other projects under way.

These guys do the R&D in their spare time so we just need to be patient, there has never been anything to suggest that it won't happen. No news doesn't mean anything sinister.

I am sure that sensibly, consideration will be given to what else is on the radar generally so as not to over stretch people's finances or pick a launch time that doesn't give the model a fighting chance.

Regards

Roy

Understood, Roy. My guess would be a 2020 launch, Spring?

Hi all,

Firstly, if we ever kill off projects, as we did with the Class 21/9, we will make it clear.

If you haven't heard any news, it is because we have no news to share!

In this case the delays are down to us.  It took quite a bit longer than expected to get the research package complete and ready for China.

Please remember our comfort zone is the modern stuff: there are usually high quality manufacturer drawings that can be emailed to us and we have a lot of "prior knowledge."

With the transition era models there is quite a bit of learning we have to do, and finding detailed information and drawings can be harder.

My previous estimate of the timings was optimistic, but then estimates are simply an educated guess based on previous experience.

We have refined our methodology over time; because it is hard to gauge how long the research stage will take we tend now only to take money once we are ready to begin the paid-for work in China.

But this model is definitely going ahead!

Cheers

Ben A.

It looks like Paul (Only Me) or the RevolutioN Team may have some news soon. I wouldn't want to predict when they will start taking orders, but I will be ready when they are having already decided on my choice!
