In the past i would not have been interested but I now have an interest in the derby research trains so would probably invoke rule one and have one in rtc livery, tribometer train is currently being looked at ( hydra is currently in the spray shop along with lab5 TRIM).

Hi All,

I put that poll up well 2 years ago and it appeared a case of the minority shouting louder than the majority which makes it a bit of a risk.

But that been said when the Bo-Co comes out of the work shops and has ran for a bit no doubt on numerous preserved lines then it may become a much more viable option.
Granted it does have numerous limiting factors against it (fleet size, longevity, variations) but it's fair to say these types of models have been done before so you just never know!

An old thread but shapeways are doing a co bo resin body so what chassis for it? I seem to remember a Farish 31 with a class 20 bogie being mentioned. Might be an idea to know before I take the plunge on 2 donor locos and a body!

Cheers Andy

I canít remember exactly but I suspect it would have been a class 20 chassis with a 31 bogie fitted.
These would be Poole era chassis and bogies as they were interchangeable.
I also suggest the 20 chassis because many shapeways designers simply shrink a larger design and there is no guarantee an unmodified standard width chassis will fit in the shapeways body. At least with the 20 chassis you are starting with a slim design.
Get hold of some drawings showing bogie spacings and chassis dimensions to make sure this is the correct combination and source the two chassis on eBay.

I asked the guy to design the Co Bo kit

the 1st print arrived last week but had a few minor flaws on it. although they were not a problem for us to rectify, some others may have struggled, so we raised it with Shapeways to look at and a replacement print is on its way to us.

The battery box was 1 sided, but the guy who designed it has put that right.

There will be a dummy chassis available soon once the bogies have been designed.

There will be more BR outline designs from this same guy.

I have posted some on our facebook page plus there are photos of the 1st body shell, https://www.facebook.com/aemngauge/

I did try uploading the photos on here, but was being told PDF and mine are Jpeg, I am at work, so have not really got time to faff around with this.

If someone else can transfer the photos then it would be appreciated.

Cheers Mark

No problem @mark100

You mentioned dummy chassis in your post, does that mean a 3d printed chassis to take a donor motor and other parts to make the conversion easier?

This is all very interesting  :claphappy:
Noticed Shapeways also have the bogie side frames listed.

Happy to buy one Mark, but would still like to know what chassis it will fit please. Was planning on the Farish 20 with a 31 bogie?
