New Dapol Class 50 Sir Edward Elgar
« on: May 18, 2018, 10:20:00 PM »
Hi all

Anyone know what decoder the new Dapol Class 50 Sir Edward Elgar will take

As they are offering a sound fitted version I hope it follows the Class 68 ie Next18 decoder with space for a speaker

Anyone know for sure

Also anyone knows when it's planned release date is (Roughly) ;)

Paul

Probably next18, but pretty early to be worrying about that - the Dapol model hasn't even shown a first engineering prototype, so it's a long, long way off (at least a year, probably more given Dapol's record - it's already years late).

Cheers,
Alan

IIRC Dapol have stated that all new models will be Next18. My memory isn't as reliable as I'd like though. :uneasy:

Info from collectors club forum.

2nd October 2017, 10:33

We're please to say that as part of our continuous review of N gauge products, the Class 50 project is now proceeding.
During the holding period, we have completely re-engineered the model and it will now contain our new benchmark electronics and mechanicals. This means the model will be produced to the same standard as the class 68.
Next-18 decoder
DCC Sound ready
Full lighting control (Independent front/rear lamps, cab lights etc.) for both DC & DCC users.
New whisper quiet motor and chassis

We are currently aiming for production late Q3 2018.
I would normally post CAD shots, but since it still looks just like a 50 on the outside then I've omitted this for now
I'll be updating with further information over the coming weeks and months as the model progresses through various stages.
Regards
Andy
