More long wiggly things - Two Cartic 4's built from NGS kits
« on: April 13, 2018, 10:14:35 PM »
Over the last couple of years I have picked up two of the NGS Cartic 4 kits.  they were the 30th anniversary kit and of the version with the roofs and the plated sides.

I have started to assemble them, soldering the frames which now need to be cleaned up.  Here are a few photos.  What I have decided to do is build them as built without the sides and roofs and if anyone has the basic kits and wants the extra parts I wont use please contact me.  The extra parts are in the third photo.

A bit more soldering to attach the ladders and safety fencing.

A note on technique, by assembling them in pairs I get all of the uprights square.

And a few hours later with a coat of etch primer. Time to let the paint harden.

Next stage is to paint and apply transfers (on order from the NGS shop).  I also have some plastic cars coming from China that will need to get the treatment so they don't look like toys.

Don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but I loaded a couple of Cartic sets with 64 x Oxford Diecast Ford Anglias. They looked great but were too heavy for my Farish 37s to pull.

Thatís why I have ordered plastic ones from China.  They will need repainted so they donít look like toys, but almost no weight.

Hi

However Snowwolflair  mentioned plastic cars from China so I think they will be fine.

Mine will be running empty so I don't have this issue.

Cheers

Paul

Hi
Looking good , I fitted one vehicle with side screens a while back - and what a faff - but it was worth it - must get around to another. = a slow job.

I did mount all on bogies and as just the plastic chassis ran very well on the layout.

They are fine kits and well worth hunting out.

So does that mean you have too many Anglias? I don't have enough!

PM me if you wish to sell.

Cheers

The plastic cars are BMW Merc and similar so my plan is for a new car delivery train where all the vehicles will be grouped by type.

Letís see they are a few pounds for 100 so Iím not holding my breath.

Deliberately boring, a new car delivery train, with wax prepped cars and uniformity.
