If there's a home game on don't forget the chap in the coracle on the river whose job was to retrieve balls kicked out of the ground!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Thankyou for the kind comments  :thankyousign:

Well this is just a short update. With most the station & Railway street pretty much complete, only requiring one or two small details & finishing touches, attention is now turned to the south end of the layout which needs a fair bit of work. The embankment on which  the 'Abbey' stands is in dire need of detailing & also the large area behind Shrewford no1 box needed filling with something. This I've decided on a football ground which will be a loose representation of the old Gay Meadow what used to be at Shrewsbury. I've started constructing the east stand using thick white card...

This picture showing the scene so far.... so lots to do to with this end of the layout over the coming couple of weeks.

Cheers,
Mark
:hellosign:  Many thanks Mark, looking forward to further updates
       regards Derek.

Hi Everyone,

Work on the south end of the layout is continuing apace. The football ground is coming on well, I have completed the east stand & thought I'd post a couple of pictures of it's current state....

This is during construction. To give the impression of seats & isles, I just painted the card & marked it out with black fineliner...this won't be as noticeable once the roof is on & the building is complete

The rear of the East stand showing the entrance area.

The east stand with it's canopy attached..the other stands are yet to be completed

Meanwhile, over at the station

47403 'The Geordie' is ticking over on the loco stabling point waiting to take over a parcels train from Manchester to Bristol.

A 4 car Class 101 ticks over in bay Platform 5 with an all stops via Hereford to Cardiff Central

& finally A 150 Sprinter is out of service at platform 3 but will form an Aberystwyth service a little later

Cheers for now,
Mark

Cheers Crewearpley

I hadn't thought of the name for the team the ground would be for, but Shrewford united sounds good to me

I've bought a white marker to get the pitch marked out properly so should look good hopefully once its done.

A couple of bonus shots while playing around with the camera in the station area...

Cheers
Mark

A few pictures from a bit of a running session on saturday...

ScotRails's 47710 'Sir Walter Scott' had been to Crewe works & pressed into service in the midlands. Having taken over from a Class 86 Electric at Wolverhampton, it arrives at Shrewford on the 14:46 InterCity service from London Euston Terminating here

This trains is a few minutes late, so instead of the train being shunted out to Shrewford North yard & being bought back into Platform 7 for the 15:19 departure to London Euston, the signalman decides the train remains in platform 4 with 47710 being simply run round to couple to the other end

Meanwhile a Class 101 arrives at Platform 7 with a terminating service from Chester

47710 is then coupled to the other end of the 'Euston' after the run round for it's right time departure of 15:19, which it will take as far as Wolverhampton where an Electric loco will take over

Cheers for now,
Mark

Not sure how Iíve missed this before.
What a great layout with fabulous attention to detail and youíve chosen some lovely angles for photography.
Brilliant.

If it looks right then it most probably is right.

Hi Everyone,

Well construction of the football ground is almost complete. this has taken longer than I thought as due to working early shifts the last few days for the real railway & lack of sleep  :'(, I just haven't felt like modelling.
So after a good nights sleep & a couple of days off, I'm cracking on with it !

So To create the actual pitch, I copied, pasted & printed onto card a football pitch layout & i'm pleased with the results.

Just to get the area properly tied in now with the car park areas to be sorted & all the area next to the track needing fencing, bushes & vegetation. Once this area is done, I'm going to concentrate on the hill on which the 'Shrewford Abbey' sits which is in urgent need of attention.

A Cardiff Central to Bangor (Gwynedd) service is routed into Platform 4 & passes the in progress Shrewford Town football ground

Cheers for now,
Mark
