Hi Everyone,

Many thanks again for the kind & inspirational comments, much appreciated  :thankyousign:

Well as it's gone a bit cooler from that crazy heatwave, I've managed to have a bash at getting bits done to Shrewford. Mainly concentrating on the Red Star Parcels office & also the Railway bridge at the Chester end of the station. Instead of cutting through the board, as before, I've made an illusion as if the road dips to go under the railway, & putting a tin foil screen to create a mirror effect which was suggested by someone on the forum before..

Here are some pictures of the latest progress...

First a look at the new Red Star Parcels office to the right of the main station building

I think the canopy at the front of the main building needs a bit of a dusting lol!  :worried:

The I begin the screen for the Railway bridge

Now with the girders attached & how the Bridge looks from the street

& from the other side as an empty stock from London Euston departs platform 4

Still bits to do to completely finish off this area like adding street lamps & road signs...

Cheers for now  :beers:
Mark

Hi everyone,

Time for another update as the station progresses slowly.

I have now almost completed the retaining wall along the south end of the station & the white screen where the tracks supposedly span the river severn. This just needs finishing touches now. The next job will be ballasting before construction of the bay platform canopies & adding platform details.

This is the scene as of this evening..

First up, looking north showing the retaining wall on the left hand side of the station

Still loads to do..

Cheers for now  :beers:,
Mark

Hi Everyone,

Finally time for a layout update. I have bit by bit over the weeks been working on the canopies for the bay platforms on the station, aswell as the signage & I've also ballasted the track...one of the most tedious parts of the build IMO.

So took some pictures of the progress this morning. I'm yet to finish the signage aswell as fit the Customer Information monitors.

construction of the bay platform canopies complete & being painted

Station signs & platform numbers printed out

I then create imitation lighting with the station name printed on the lamp, 1960's style when the canopies were supposedly built replacing the overall roof

I then had a brain wave & thought about the PA system, so thought about the retaining walls I purchased, the small round bits that hold the pieces together look a little bit like speakers  :P so as there's a fair few of them....I've chopped them up ha!

These will then be glued underneath the canopies

So here are the canopies now constructed & on the staion

The view looking south & showing all the clutter from the build which I need to clear & concentrate on this end of the layout

A look underneath the canopy showing the clocks & also the PA system speakers, though the announcer has a fair bit to say regarding the 13:25 DMU thats shown in Platform 6 on the Heart of wales service to Swansea!

Still loads to do....

Cheers for now,
Mark  :)

This looks wonderful, very evocative, thanks for more inspiration, maybe I should doubleside my layout and turn my staging area into a station :)
