Well I am sitting here feeling smug with the Yanks tracking for 100+ wins and the best season in many a year... Yay!

Just got back from a business trip to NY today, unfortunately the yanks are out of town. Iím back next week, so may strike lucky then...

Right, we've got the East coast right where we want them, now all we have to do is pounce and before you know it we'll be lifting the trophy again.

 :'(

I should be used to it by now, after 20yrs of supporting the RedSox, the yo-yo'ing up and down the league.

Thanks @weave for not rubbing it in. At least two of the games were reasonably tight, even if one was an epic!

I've got to start getting some early nights in preperation for the late nights watching the world series.

Hey-ho.

Hi @emjaybee ,

No rubbing in. The first game could have gone either way but basically both teams make too many basic mistakes as far as I can see.

Thought the reception for Mike Yastrzemski and his granddad was nice.

Good luck with the staying up. I let the dogs out at 3 am to do their biz on the Wednesday morning and had a quick look at the mlb gameday thing. Next minute it was 6 am and they were still going (not the dogs   :D). Went back to bed at 8 am and didn't start work until lunchtime . Don't tell the missus .

I suppose we can just enjoy the play offs for the sport.

Cheers weave  :beers:

Well, I've just sat and watched the Nationals beat the Cardinals.

Superb pitching from both Wainwright and Scherzer, absolutely cracking game.

Hi all,

Has anyone been watching? I've only been watching the 6-8 minute highlights of the games so haven't really got a proper opinion as didn't see it all but there have been some great plays, especially in the last Houston v Yankees game and some big mistakes over the last week or so.

All very enjoyable as not involved. Just hope the final is exciting and goes down to the wire.

Cheers weave  :beers:

Hi all,

I've managed to catch a few of the post season games, those that have been early, 9pm'ish UK start.

They've all been pretty darn good games. The pitching has been superb, I wish we had Gerrit Cole on the RedSox roster, it's really made the RedSox pitching look very average this season.

I favour the Astros for the win. Their pitching and bats have just looked a step above everyone elses this post season, the Nationals have done well, but I can't see them besting the Astros. The Astros defensive play has been outstanding as well.

I'm aiming to watch Fridays and Saturdays matches live, and then we'll see how things are going after that!

Now all I've got to try and do is not work too hard in the week so I don't sleep through the games!

Me too. I can't see the Nationals getting anything much against Verlander and Cole in Houston, so they could be two down very quickly.

Statistically, the Nats have had the upper hand over the Astors throughout the year, but this is the postseason. Cole is putting up numbers that are above and beyond anyone else, and as you say, Verlander as well!

I don't think it'll be a push over, but my gut feel is the Astro's will come out on top.

But then, what do I know?   :D

If I ever make another prediction, please feel free to remind me how this one turned out!  :dunce:

I'm so glad I waited for someone else to say that first!

I could kind of envisage either Cole or Verlander not getting a win, but I never thought BOTH of them would get a loss. I watched Scherzer pitching a couple of weeks back and he was impressive then. Last night was a bit unfortunate, it kinda turned into a run fest which I don't think the Astros deserved.

I never saw this coming despite watching them through the last round, so you're not alone in being crap at predictions.

I'm guessing they won't be knocking on either of our doors looking for new pundits on the TV!

 :-[

It's a funny old world. When I first got into Baseball twenty years ago I was all about the batting, but now I've got my eye in I'm just fascinated about the pitching. I find myself playing pitches in slow-mo to get a good view of the mechanics. Some of the movement those guys have been getting needs to be seen to be believed!

Roll on Friday and Saturday, I'll be staying up and watching them live.

Well, a pretty good game. I reckon at any point it could have blown wide open, so many left on base at the end of an innings I'm staggered the scores weren't triple what they were.  So it's brought the gap down to one, which makes it all the more interesting.

The trouble is it made for a damn long game and I'm knackered. I'm not staying up for tonight, I'll see what the result is and try to make the last game of the series.

I'm off to try and look busy for the wife!

Busy day! Sorry for the late update.

Who'd have thought it? Back to a best of three game scenario.

Just watching the opening couple of innings. Astro's up already.

Shan't watch all the game, got to start a job tomorrow, but a bit of flexibility early in the week so I should be able to watch the rest of the series and collapse into the job late and work late. One of the few upsides to being self-employed!

Ran out of nuts and beer the other nut, so will have to rectify the situation prior to Tuesday evening.

What a weird series! Will a home team win?
Spend as little as possible on what you need so you can spend as much as possible on what you want.

All very strange. I feel sorry for the home fans so far not being able to see at least one victory. Must be very frustrating.

Let's see what happens down in Texas.

I'm still just highlights in the morning (UK) but hope you guys enjoy the game(s) in the week.

Cheers weave  :beers:
