Out of curiosity has anyone from the monthly railway mags been approached, not just for publicity but for possible attendance. Railway Modeller are seeking a Southern area rep and want to fill the position by end March so it's a good start for them :D ;)
Thanks, that's worth thinking about. I've done the publicity bit, with diary entries and hopefully a short News section article, but I could follow them up for a physical presence.  Always assuming that Tank finds a bigger bit of school to put them in.....   ;D

Saw the 'prod' post on the Farcebook page and thought 'that looks interesting'. Went to the diary and found out it's the weekend of the Nailsea and District MRC Show (of which club I am a member). Drat!!  >:(

Yes, I've noted the Stevenage post - not enough room and dodgy stewards.  I'll catch up with the exhibitions one in due course.  Tank and I inspected the school library yesterday to give us a bit more room, so I hope that we will be fitting a quart into a gallon pot and not the other way round.  As for stewards, our ESNG experience is to be friendly, offer real coffee, and most importantly train the people on the pay desk to banter with the punters....

i have noticed the people who man ticket office / desks are retirement age, wives, but most importantly the friendly welcomming types. stewards are NOT like football stadium types, yes, i have worked at preserved railway centres, stadiums. crowds build up and really a polite word is all that is needed. one steward at stevenage took ages to mumble on about a fire exit and interrupted a conversation i had with bob that was important and yes, stewards should encourage people to view exhibits, but it is important where there are trade stands, maybe two halls in use

one steward did not even know the location of parking for the exhibitors , one could not tell a disabledd customer the location of a disabled toilet - yikes !! and i have heard rude stewards being unhelpful - so a lot of points to consider

Trip is confirmed. Flights and trains are booked!
Is there a timetable for the shuttle from Purley Station?

No, but Chris reckons it will run every half hour.  You'll want exit on the east side of the station, which is the side you will alight if you are coming down from London.

Yes, come out of the exit on Platform 6 and wait there for a minibus that says 'The Collegiate Trust'.....although I may see how much those magnetic signs are and buy one.  :)
