Coach lighting question
« on: January 13, 2018, 08:55:09 PM »
Heya people.
I had these 12v and 5v DC strip lights come into work. Can I use them on coaches with batteries and how do I do it. And in buildings 😀

Thanks
Andy

The bottom strip looks like it could be suitable, but the top strip are RGB leds. You could end up with disco lighting in your coaches!

Mind you, if you power the red, green and blue all at once you get white.

Thanks for the information Bealman. Would the 5v one run with a household battery and which type of battery would be best.

As Bealman said the top one will give you disco lighting but the bottom should be ok but they are marked as 12 volt so a small battery won't last long.  I use the bottom version in all my coaches but connect to coach wheel track pickups (ala Dapol) and add a 1k or 2k resistor in series with the feed to make then not so bright.
