That tends to tie in with my thinking trains should only occupy roughly 1/3rd of the scenic area apart from everyone's favourite - the lengthy freight train.

Agreed Mick, but sometimes shorter freight trains can be attractive...



True. I also like to see the odd engine + brake van trundling back to base, as it were - something rarely see on exhibition layouts.

Certainly the ones made from Peco kits. I cut away the coupling housing, fit a small piece of plasticard to fill the gap in the buffer beam and add a tail lamp.

A couple of pics of one of the buildings today. The house which inspired this model was once three dwellings and my great-grandmother lived in the left hand one. About 100 years ago my mother spent some school holidays there, escaping from London.



The rather odd arrangement of the roof is, I guess, a result of adding an extension at some time. It was certainly fiddly to make. Fortunately the other end was straightforward!
