I know, its a shame! I was also getting my hopes up!

On a more positive note however, I am off to get some Swafega to clean the tests tonight and hopefully get some primer on them!

Cheers,

Alex

Wouldn't CIF and an old toothbrush be sufficient?

Indeed, I am going to try out both methods as a little experiment!

Hello all,

I have managed to prime the two Sentinels today and get some close up shots!

SDJR Version:

7109 'Joyce':

Both for scale:

Roof detail (though this has changed for the final model so the chimneys are correct):

I am just waiting for a supplier to get back to me regarding the detail packs, but I still plan to open orders on the 1st April, though I may adhere to suggestions to delay it by a day considering the connotations of April 1st :D

Cheers,

Alex

They look very good. Still evidence of stripes from printing but nothing a little careful work with some fine wet and dry won't sort out.
Any idea yet how much the basic print will be and when they will be available.

Hello,

Thanks for the comments!

Yeah there is a little bit of striping but as you said, Jerry, a little work and a couple of coats of acrylic should sort it!

I will hopefully be releasing all prices tomorrow and opening orders next weekend (1st/2nd April).

Cheers,

Alex

Hello all,

I have painted the SDJR prototype today! I know the print hasn't been properly finished and the paint would be better sprayed on but alas I am on a student budget and have limited resources! However, I think it gives a good idea of what the completed kit looks like! I also need to order some decals (anyone have any ideas where to source such items cheaply?)

As you may be able to see, I have also blackened the wheels which I think makes a big difference!

Also, I have managed to set up a small loop of track on my desk and the chassis and body run very well together! It has very sharp corners so I can't gauge the strength of the loco but it seems to run well.

As I said earlier today, I should be releasing final prices tomorrow and orders are set to open on the 1st and 2nd April!

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex

have you done anything about coupling design yet?
I remember there being two trains of thought. NEM pockets for any design to be added, and old style Arnold/Union Mills half arrows.

Hello,

I have put a lot of thought into couplings and looked at supplying them but they are just too expensive, especially considering some people will want different types! I have placed two blocks level with the buffer beam and this allows NEM pockets to be mounted. Unfortunately, FUD is just not strong enough to create NEM pockets that stand the test of time from my research!

There is also the issue of height because of how small the loco is!

Hope this helps answer your question!

Cheers,

Alex

I agree with your FUD+NEM comment. And after all, it is called modelling!

Hi Alex,
I for one am really impressed by what you have done and am more than happy for a space for couplings to be left so that we can fit whatever is most appropriate.

Looking forward to getting this. The chassis should be here in the next few days. Does anyone know if the SDJR one was painted black or was it painted in dark blue like the Farish Jinty and 4F models?.
