Hi Pete,
Reason #1 - you're on your own there!

Reason #2 - half the fun of landscaping is taking stuff you would normally throw out and making use of it, even if it's only making papier mache. I used some kitchen roll soaked in diluted filler

Reason #3 - end to end layouts require operating. A roundy can be set in motion while you sit back with your favourite tipple If in the cold garage I suggest brandy ;)) It means you'll see the same train all the time but, hey, the brandy aspect more than makes up for that :laugh3:

Now that's the kind of advice that makes the forum such a great place

What's more is you can blame your inebriation on Mrs W as she forced you out there in the first place :)

I've just been given possibly the greatest Christmas present...

After proposing this layout some time around the last ice age, I've pretty much been in a sulk. Mrs W, in the face of logic and persuasion, declined to give me permission to take over the smallest of the spare bedrooms. Now after multiple appeals, threats and the raising of petitions with as many as one signature, she has relented  :claphappy:.

We're about to be invaded by extended family for the festive period, but come January 2 I'll be able to begin construction in a cosy, heated modelling room. The only restriction is that the layout and supporting infrastructure must be able to be stored next Christmas when the room will again be needed for Christmas sleeping purposes. Deal, I said!

Started online shopping for a pair of trestles...

Great news, Pete. :claphappy:
Those 'one signature' petitions really put the wind up people, don't they :D

Really good news.
My layout is in the spare bedroom. It all stows away under the beds when we have visitors with little problem other than having to remove all the stock and pack it away.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.
