Great news that the hoppers made it to the UK prior to the Chinese New Year.

Hopefully not to long, once the guys have cleared their feet with the KFAs and Sturgeons.

In case someone sneezed on them before they left China, sitting for a few weeks before being mailed out might be a good thing.

As I was leaving the house just now the postie had me sign for a parcel. Managed to open a corner and its full of nice silver VTG HOAs. Funeral first, toys later.

that is good news, how about some pics. Guess mine will arrive in a few weeks, given the delays in Aussie Post.

Picked up my HOAs at Model Rail Scotland and they are fantastic.

Credit to the guys for once again bringing a superb model to the n gauge world.

As I said in our recent newsletter (I think), we havenít sent out any balance invoices yet as weíve been clearing the decks of KFAs and Sturgeons before getting ready for Model Rail Scotland.

Orders paid in full are starting to go out and over the next few weeks Iíll start to send out balance invoices.

Cheers Mike

After a few days working on family issues I finally managed to get round to unboxing my HOAs and putting them on their wheels. The first few cautious runs behind a Dapol Class 68 with 10 on were disastrous with multiple derailments. I traced these to the bogies having too much rotational resistance. Slackening off the bogie retaining screws by a quarter turn on every offending bogie did the trick and the whole rake now runs smoothly including through 18 inch radius reverse curves, facing and trailing turnouts, up hill and down, and through the 9 inch radius curve in part of the fiddle yard. The wagons have an excellent close coupling set up which has the buffers very close on the straight and opening out sufficiently for the wagons to go round my tightest curve.

The wagons come in a snug fitting box with the wagons retained in a film sheet inside a two piece clear flexible plastic clamshell, itself fitting closely into the hard clear plastic outer case. There are separate brake pipes in the box with instructions for fitting them.

The detail on the wagons is as near perfect in our chosen scale with pipe runs, brackets, handles, handrails, door operating gear etc. all faithfully represented. I have 7 VTG Mendip Rail wagons with bogie mounted parking brake handwheels and 3 Ermewa Tarmac wagons with the parking brake handwheel recessed into the hopper body. The lettering is detailed and extensive including warning notices along the tops of the hopper bodies.

The insides of the hoppers are painted in a convincing dark brown with strengthening ribs and baffles fully represented.

The hopper end sheets, concealing brake equipment, are well detailed with a tail lamp bracket present.

Hello all,

The HOAs were operating today on Wormhill, Pete Lathamís superb representation of Peak Forest in Derbyshire, at Model Rail Scotland.

There are more images on the News section of the Revolution website.

Also, with thanks to Mike W above, I have added a short note about how to rectify any stiffness in the bogies if the retaining screws have been over-tightened during assembly.

Cheers

Ben A.

I collected my 28 HOAs at Glasgow, some of each livery, and have had them running on Leefield & Ashpeth, my loft layout. At last, something appropriate to give my Class 59s a workout.
These are truly wonderful wagons. I had the same issue as mentioned above but soon sorted with a small screwdriver. Their free running qualities are superb. I always test new wagons on an incline and these HOAs run away, beautifully. They are nicely weighted. The detail and printing are exquisite in every way. The packaging is also exemplary and I love the leaflet identifying the history of the wagons. A great quality touch.
A HUGE thank you to Ben and Mike for another amazing Revolution product.

Hi Graham
The next video is in preparation and the HOAs will figure, once they have been loaded and weathered.
Cheers,
Ged.
