I really hope Rapido come up with a price for these wagons soon.
I would rather commit money to them before the next transition, or modern, wagon is announced.
Fingers crossed,
Ged

Hi Ged

We have a price offer from Rapido but we still have some negotiations to do over various terms plus a potential production schedule.

The HOAs have already been overtaken by the IZA Cargowaggon twins.  Once we've figured out terms/price/schedule with Rapido we will open the order book.  We are very conscious of trying to schedule projects so that there isn't too much at once and the delays to the HOAs have been very frustrating for us as well as you!

Please bear with us while we try to finalise things and be assured that we won't try to overload the market with too many projects at once.

Cheers, Mike

So looks like the HOA is still a long way off then ? Can I ask what made the IZA over take this project ?
Just curious to know.

I assumed the number of orders have overtaken this project. That is how it has been measured before.

Currently I am holding back ordering either until I know which is happening first as I don't want to miss out.

As I said the IZA is happening before the HOA. The reason was simple - they are coming from different factories and the factory producing the IZA gave us a price and finished the CAD much quicker, in fact the IZA tooling is nearly complete.

Cheers Mike

Hello all,

As Mike said, the simple answer is that the HOA is a slightly more complex project than the IZA.

But to flesh out the reasoning (for those interested) this is because we needed to work out the tooling split for the HOA based on enabling the different sides (original EWS/revised VTG) to be depicted.  This impacted on the cost of both tooling and assembly, and the back-and-forth discussion about how to achieve this adds time.

When the designers in Canada and China are also busy on other projects it can add more time than you might think (or we would like!!)

Without a firm price we have been unable to start taking orders for the HOA.

The IZA on the other hand has been simpler to tool and assemble, so while we announced this model after the HOA we were given a price quickly and therefore able to open the order book sooner.

With money coming in (bearing in mind each project's finances are ring-fenced) the IZA has progressed to tooling first.

Please come and see us on stand B029 at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC on November 25th/26th and we'll be happy to personally give any supporters the latest updates and information, and show off the latest progress.

cheers

Ben A.

Hello all,

Rapido surprised us at Warley with 3D prints depcicting both types of the forthcoming HOA hoppers.

The one in front represents the recent VTG variant, with six reinforcing panels on the side and handbrake wheel on the bogies, while the one behind is the original EWS Construction type with the handbrake wheels on the body and four strengthening plates.  Here is a shot of the original version on its own:

Please bear in mind that these are 3D prints intended simply to give us a feel for the presence, size and fit of the finished wagons.  They do not have the crispness of detail or finesse of the moulded wagons, and some of the thinner parts are very slightly distorted due to limitations of the material.

They utilise parts from our exiting TEA tanker model - the bogies and some components from the close coupler units - and these parts are in black plastic.

We are hoping to open the order book for these models very soon with our usual payment plan terms, and they are scheduled to go into production after the Class 92 locomotive.

Cheers

Ben A.

Hi Ben and Mike
When you open the order book, would it be possible to have a button to order what I voted for?
It seems that I didn't receive a mail confirming my vote and there is no entry for the vote on my account. I can't remember for what liveries I voted back then

Hi @Ben A  and @red_death
I guess someone may already have asked this and apologies if you've answered before, but I havent seen it anywhere...

So being stupid, what I did to one of my TEA's resulted in banishment to the shed due to unforgiveable bad language. I managed to glue up - er superglue up - a bogie and connector when trying to stick down a weight that was loose in the tank.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
So what chance of purchasing a replacement bogie and coupling mechanism? There doesnt seem to be anything on the website, but since you are doing the bogies and couplers for the HOAs I wonder if you could do some spares?

Just thought I'd ask.
Thanks
Kirky

Hello Mike & Ben
Now that the HOAs can be ordered, I wanted to order what I "expressed interest" for. Is there a way to see what I voted for? I really can't remember. Also, I seem to have no mail, confirming my expression of interest.

regards
Matthias
