APT POP train in N
« on: August 29, 2016, 09:27:24 AM »
Members of the APT Conservation team are collaborating on the production of the experimental open framed 2 car articulated POP train in 00 and in N. This was hauled on mainlines by a wide range of diesel and electric traction most of which is already available or planned in N. I think that electric 87001 had an aerodynamic nose cone when it hauled the train for high speed trials on the West Coast Main Line. Apparently POP stands for Power-0-Power, so two power cars without an intermediate trailer. A compact train for the 1970s.

Kit Spackman who collaborated on the Locomotion/Rapido Trains APT-E in 00 is apparently an N gauge operator, so the N gauge version is certain to arrive.

Now that's what I would call an unusual train but will the model actualy tilt ,as we know that unfortunately the Pendolino model won't .
Looking forward to watching the progress on the N gauge version,
Bob
