RNAD Fife micro layout
« on: September 15, 2018, 03:21:31 PM »
All

I am slowly but surely making my through modelling based on the Fife branch lines so the next micro layout inspired by the MOD site at Crombie I was planning this before the announcement of the VEA vans but this had made actually plan and start the build

Layout will feature a small corner of a larger site with a couple of sidings including a Rail served warehouse some other random buildings and a nissen hut to give it that military feel

Layout will be based in the 90s with railfreight class 08 20 26 and 37 shunting the sidings

All will be done on a low budget using bits from the scrap box and other cardboard buildings etc

Sounds good, you have the option to mimic Rosyth and have huge fuel tanks buried in the hillside, makes the modelling of them much more straight forward :)

Thanks

Yeah they only recently demolished those tanks and took the ages because the concrete was so thick.

I do plan to model the Rosyth branch at some point in the future. But for now I have been building these small Hut type buildings which were printed in Model Rail N Gauge special when it was still free with Rail

Hi. The little buildings are looking good. What’s the size of the layout please?
Gold Hill - my rule 1, “just for fun” micro layout;

Clouds Hill - My first layout currently on hold;

I diceded to put grass on the nissen hut and it looks way better lots of buildings at MOD sites have grass roofs I think they do this to confuse the enemy especially from the air

Second building is from the Scenecraft substation but it looks suitably utilitarian ideal for an MOD depot
