My excuse is that today is a rainy day and I'm in sentimental mood. (My policy is "I don't paint the soil colour while I'm having a sentimental feeling".)

Rainy days and Mondays, eh? 🤔

Hi Mike
How are you doing?
Yes, it was Monday and was raining.
Today is Tuesday and still raining.
I got bored of being in a sentimental mood so I made street signs today.
Another one, a baby step.

One of Stop sign flew out of desk and the rescue team (my two eyes) couldn't recover it.

Hi Rich
That's a hard question.
It's suppose to be a just scenery between the yard and a place where connect to mainline.
I just wanted to have a little distance between them.(What a luxury! I couldn't even think about it in a closet!!)
I tried to put an engine pocket on this extension but it was too short.
I don't have a master plan as usual, I'm not sure how it turns out. :scowl:
That's where the "Low-tech-ness" strikes again.
In distant future, I'd like to run long trains but I don't even know how long is a long train for me.
Please standby until I come up with something.

The voice of an angle, it's just a shame she's not still with us today.

OK back to talking about the Closet Branch  :D

Great artist and song, Rich. Thanks

It is raining here in Canberra today. Decent rain has become a rare thing this year for us unfortunately. One of the best things that can happen is for it to pour.

Already we've had days into the 30's (Celsius that is) and it's not even summer yet. Bad news.

Hello?

Test fit.
Everything temporary.
I put my Low Tech backdrop.

One of those a suspicious back street that located near the railroad track in some industrial area.
You don't want to hang around there after dark. :dighole:
Back street jive. :headbang:

Hopefully I'm able to achieve LA's dusty sand feel a little more.
Connecting to the yard section would have a problem too. I need to redo the yard engine house area to match this short extension.
I made this frame by using a handsaw only and it has a slightly less depth than the yard. :scowl:
All in all, my Low-Tech-ness struck again!   :dunce:

Dats

Hi Dats, I think you've captured the sandy LA soil look very well.  I'm still trying to figure out how this new section fits in with the rest of the Closet Branch? Does it fit between the "Connecting Track" and the 119 switch?

Cheers,
Rich S.

Hello?

I've been rebuilding the benchwork of my Low-Tech Layout.
One more module to go.
I'm hoping that I can use black curtain skirt.
After that, I can start rebuilding the backdrop with my Low-Tech photos.

I'm using a miter box and a handsaw.
Yeah, the Old School!!  :headbang:
Man!! It takes forever to build!!!
And my arms are sore!!
I've been living in apartments and I don't own power tools. (I do have a power drill that doesn't have a speed control! Yeah the Old School!!  :headbang:)

You can see a tiny "extension of the yard will be" section.
I'll report it back to you again.

Happy holidays to everyone!!

Dats, The new bench work looks great. One thing about building the bench work using "Old School" tools, you're getting lots of exercise  :smiley-laughing: Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year  :foodanddrink:
Cheers,

Hi Dats

Nothing wrong with Old Tech as long as you keep your tools sharp. Less likely to lose a finger with Old Tech also.

I've got a Mitre box that looks to be the same as yours, but even using it, getting square cuts is a hit or miss affair for me.

Happy Xmas season from me to everyone too.

N-N-N as Dats would say

When it comes to sawing and hammering Dats, I use the old style tools also.  Drilling I use a power drill or hand drill depending on the job.  Sanding is done with a sandpaper block.

Glad to see the Closet Branch is getting some new real estate!  Won't be long before the Closet Branch becomes the Basement Subdivision!

Some nice project work to keep you busy over the Christmas period!

Micro progress.....I think this is a little progress.

I bought a small paint can from the "Oops" shelf of a home improvement store.

It's a really really pale blue colour.

Well, Low -Tech-ness hit again.
I saw it at store and I like the colour and price.
$2!! Yay!!
But I didn't think the existing backdrop colour.
I didn't think about it at all!
It's a totally different blue shade!
Either I have to mix the paint and try to match or repaint all parts of my backdrop with the new colour.
I tried to disguise with $0.65 craft paints.
And put my Low-tech backdrop photo together.

Not bad here right? It's good enough for my standard.
Until you see this!!......

Oh my god!! The craft paint color is totally different blue!!   :headbutt:
Well, I think a way to fix it.
I still have to cut a lot of lumber with a hand saw.  :headbang:
Who knows. When I finished the benchwork, I'll be like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I forgot to say hi to everybody.
Hello, Rich, Webbo, Andy and rest of all N gauge member who kindly visit this thread. How are you doing? Enjoying this year's holiday season?

Quick flow up.
I painted both backdrop using same paint on the picture but some reason they are still different colour. ???
Maybe lighting? :hmmm:
Maybe viewing angles  :hmmm:
Maybe because $2?  :hmmm:
Or maybe my brain is not working as usual?  :hmmm:

The industrial area is getting better.

The end.

Dats
P.S. I'm a big fan of Espee Hydra-Cushion cars without roof walk and want to collect a lot of them.
Currently I'm bidding two of them on eBay.
I'll report it back to you. Wish me luck!
