Ah well - while I await the new baseboard I may as well crack on with some scenery:

have made a 'service crossing' (sorry - don't know what they are really called) for one of the sidings:

Am now making trees and bushes from electrical wire.

I made the crossing from coffee stirrers as available at most coffee shops.

Making a Tree;

1 - strip out some mains cable:

2- fold it in half and make a loop:

3- twist the wire a little:

4- fold out 4 loops from the loop you made in step 3 - these will form the roots (leave a loop to form the tree mounting spigot):

5- tightly twist the loops:

6- Now trim the roots and spigot:

7- separate out strands to form branches and twist them:

After a while this is the end result:

Nice looking baseboards.

Kind of re-enforces what the woodworker said to me - that well sealed quality MDF may well be better than plywood.
I am using MDF for my top board. Framework will be pine - kiln dried and sanded.

Hi,

Great tip on the trees - might give that a go. Do you have a preference on the scatter used to create leaves?

Cheers,
James

Thanks James

I will be using woodland scenics stuff for the leaves. have not yet quite decided on the colour though. Will probably end up going for a late summer/early autumn look to the foliage.
