I recently recieved an email from hattons telling me that the Graham Farish 373-557 had been cancelled :veryangry: Huge shame as I cannot afford a full rake of revolution ones and they seemed a steal at £13 each compared to other large wagons *cough cough HHA cough cough* Does anyone know why they have been cancelled? Anything to do with the revolution trains TEA's?
Cheers

Agrippa

There are a few on Ebay, some quite pricey, perhaps the revolution
ones will be the only version  available in future.

Cheers Agrippa! The only ones I can still find currently "In Production" are the Graham Farish 373-556C "Fina" ones, according to hattons at least :worried:

bluedepot

i would just look at ebay or at shows on 2nd hand stall

the model needs updating really but with n gauge you are mostly looking down and not that up close so looks ok

i have about 10 fina ones, a few i repainted.  if they bought out new versions of TTA or TEA i liked i might trade them in though.

Perhaps it's the inaccuracy of the logos that has caused a rethink?  There are a number of made-up liveries that Farish have used on the TEA down the years and this could be another.

On the Paul Bartlett site the majority of tankers with the round Gulf logo are Class B, basically black and used for heavy oil. and are on the left hand side of the body.  The Class A tankers, the light grey ones, in the main just seem to have the word Gulf on the left hand side.

Inaccurate models don't make money these days.

Hi all,

When were these announced?  Given the swift and significant increases in Chinese factory costs it may be that the original price did not make them cost effective.

I understand some Farish wagons (eg Seacows) have become almost prohibitively expensive to re-run due to the amount of labour involved in assembling them.

I am not sure this is true of the relatively basic TEAs, but it would not surprise me if they re-announce them at a higher price in a few months.  Or, they may do it properly and do a "proper" 60s/70s TEA using their OO CAD and research as a basis.

cheers

Ben A.

Hi Philip

No idea why they have been cancelled, though I very much doubt it is to do with our TEA.  We are producing a very different type of modern TEA not the 1960s version that Farish produce.  As an aside there are some prototypically short rakes of our TEAs with single FL green tanks being used to supply depots or the Dalston - Grangemough flow which has quite often been as short as 6.

I suspect the cheap price of £13 was a relic of the fact that it is old tooling and the price may well have been an indicator of why they have cancelled it ie they can no longer produce it at that price - most Farish 4-wheel wagons are £15-20 RRP and bogie wagons £25-30+.

Cheers, Mike
