Minitrix Railfreight Grey Class 47
« on: August 10, 2015, 12:13:41 PM »
I recently had some very good fortune on eBay. I have a blue Minitrix Class 47 (County of Norfolk) which I really love. It is a beautiful, smooth running locomotive. For those of us in love with Minitrix it is a must have in the collection. They are not to the same level of authenticity as Graham Farish (I also have a GF Class 47 which is superb..just do not look at them both at the same time). I had always wanted one of the grey ones..much rarer and don't often come along. I found a mint condition Railfreight example on eBay and put in what I thought was a pretty low bid, expecting to be out done very easily. To my amazement when I woke up (auction ended at 5 am USA time) I had won it at 39, less than my max!

It is currently in Southport waiting for my friend from Houston to travel over to Liverpool and bring it back upon her return. Can't wait to get it. The recipient, a model railway fan, is going to track test it for me just to be safe.

Who else has the grey one? There are in fact two as seen on Mr. John's excellent web site.

I sort of have the grey one. Sort of? Well, it was originally grey, but the previous owner replaced the grey with green, and added ferret and dartboard decals. It was nicely done, and a good price, so duly added to the fleet. My poison has since changed and 90% of my UK stock has gone. It is testament to the model, not perfect but looks good, excellent pulling power, that I still have it.

After a very long wait this locomotive has finally arrived in Houston. I am delighted with the condition/appearance and will track test it on Monday (layout in my office at work).

Very nice. I am very partial to minitrix, all my best running engines, in fact.  Regards Ken in Australia.
