Just in from China this week - the first painted samples of the TEA tanker wagon.
Nice to see these yesterday - and to find out you're looking at doing them in OO :)  Might well be interested in that scale !

the first painted samples of the TEA tanker wagon.

Have only just noticed that the samples have got painted axleboxes.  If that's how they'll come to the customer then

 :thankyousign:

as it'll save us from having to do 16 dots of paint per wagon, fine for 1 or 2 wagons but incredibly tedious if you'll be getting 15, 20, 25 or even more.

Additionally it'll put other manufacturers to shame ;)

Hello Nigel,

Yes, the axle boxes are painted. And the EWS ones are correctly maroon while the others are the more usual yellow.

To be fair Farish painted the axle boxes on their OBAs and some other wagons and locos; I'm not sure why they don't on all their stock really.

It might be down to the type of plastic they use

Cheers

Ben A.

Hello all,

As part of the testing and approval process I have all the parts in one of our TEA tanker wagons as separate components.  Including wheels there are nearly 70 in total - for those interested I have posted a photo on our website... see here:

http://www.revolutiontrains.com/news/

You might be surprised just how much goes into each one!

cheers

Cool

I think the NGS Timber carrier kit has less parts than that  :confused1:

Hi John,

Not quite - my rough calculation is 18 parts to make the basic body including the bogies, wheels, couplers and etched ends, then a further 23 etched details each side and the 14 white stanchions making a grand total of 78 all up.

And you stilll have to add the decals!

But that in no way seeks to diminish the amount of work involved in the TEAs for those in the factory!

cheers

Ben A.

the order deadline is the end of January

Ben,

Is this now a set in stone deadline i.e. it won't be earlier than Jan 31st?  If so then some of the looming xmas bills can get paid off first.

Apologies for seeking further clarification, wouldn't want to miss out.

Hello Nigel,

Yes, the word from Rapido is they won't be ready for the final order numbers before then, so that is our deadline.

By all means pay off your Xmas bills as long as you come back to us before Jan 31st!

cheers

Ben A.

A bit of robbing Tesco to pay RevolutioN might be required but you will get an order from me.

As Ben said we would ideally like to have started production more quickly, unfortunately the factory is full of 4mm APT-Es!

Hmmm - do you think you could use Tesco vouchers as part-payment  :hmmm:

Hello all,

In answer to queries here and elsewhere I have created a downloadable PDF showing a variety of prototypical rakes that we hope will enable our supporters to make an informed choice about which liveries they'd like.

We have included trains from a single wagon up to a long rake of 32!

As can be seen from the preview image, the sheet shows the date and route of each train, the loco and livery, the liveries of the wagons and their position in the train.

The actual PDF can be downloaded from the news pages of our website www.revolutiontrains.com/news/

Needless to say it's not exhaustive and those wishing to find alternate but accurate consists are recommended to search You Tube using the train headcode (eg 6M57) where there are lots of videos to enjoy!

Incidentally, a big thank you if any NGF members are those uploading such useful clips!

cheers

Ben A.
