2 new videos today of my latest purchase, a Hobbytrain Plasser tamper. There are a couple of issues with it as posted here.

I thought A Momentary Lapse of reason was a good track to have with the delay in moving which it seems to have

And at full speed

No place for one on my layout, but a nice looking model!

Yes, a little under scale at 1:160 but I don't think it's too bad. It is a good runner.

John ( @Trainfish ),

I really should bring my stock round for a good session playing testing.  ;) ;)

Cheers

I couldn't agree more Neal ( @Calnefoxile ) and please feel free to bring a DCC controller round to reverse the polarity on my Plasser. I was going to ask you anyway

Don't expect the layout to look much different to when you were here last apart from the extra loft lighting and 13A sockets and maybe no need to bring as much stock as last time either

Good point Mick, I am ever so grateful to the sender now that you have reminded me of this. It was packed in the usual way though, put the item in the box first then fill it with packing. Hence no protection at the bottom of the box. No damage suffered either but nobody seems to put in packing materials first.

Dapol sent me a Class 58 like that all the way to Japan. It survived (possibly because the sport of drop-kicking packages at distribution centres is outlawed in Japan) but I emailed them suggesting they might want to distribute the packing material more equitably, and subsequent arrivals were better packaged.

Cider update

I decanted 38 litres last weekend

And of course I had to test it earlier this evening. I'm sure you'll agree it looks a lot more appetising now

It tastes rather good too. I didn't measure the strength but I'd guess it is around 7.5%, maybe 8% although it doesn't taste that strong. Could be dangerous!  :beers:

I can't believe my last post on this thread was on Valentines day! Not the fact that it was a night of love (ahem) but that it was 7 months ago! Anyway, not much has changed although the cider has fermented nicely and there have been several purchases including in the past week 2x class 50's and a 66.

I now have a fleet of 4x 50's including my Farish versions with another on the way from the 50 fund.

The major addition to the train room though is the new storage cabinet for my IPA. I picked this up on Freegle for well, free. I'm sure all of my trains will run a lot better now or at least they will appear to do so  :D

No problem with doing the point motors. However, it may be a problem standing up again afterwards  :beers:

Another 50 joined the fleet on Monday. Number 50 049 arrived from the fiftyfund. Just 45 more to go now for the whole fleet
