Hello NGF!

Sadly not much had been done to the layout as of late due to an exam and lack of funds...

...until yesterday.

I was unhappy with how i made the platform so to begin with i took it up

I then built some new ones

A bit of polystyrene, Mod-roc and grey paint...

And finally a bit of grass

I gotta say i'm quite chuffed with how it's turned out.

Questions, comments and criticisms welcome as always

Ollie

That looks really good!  I love the backscene - think I recognise the Gaugemaster scene I've got.  That works really well.  The station is looking good too.

The new platforms certainly look great, and the scenics behind blend it in well with the backscene. Good to see some progress with this layout.

Well at least you know that if you get hungry whilst modelling, there are plenty of bits of Pringles and half eaten pizza slices on the floor!   :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing:

Hey all, lets start with the march calendar pic :p

Quote from: cmeonthemove
Think I much prefer the calender, although I haven't seen March's photo yet!

How's that? I'll do the April one asap :p

Not really railway related but Tuesday Night i saw Taylor Swift, had a cracking view

Now onto the layout itself, i felt like finally sorting out the exit to the fiddle yard. So a trip to rails and a few hours later i had this (those fences took a while!)

I also have done a bit of ballasting in the yard, this is my engineers siding

Being me i also got another Mk1 and 67 dummy whilst up there but i haven't taken a photo of them....yet

Always good to see a calendar on show.

The siding is a good idea with the old wagons and tender.

Looks very good, I see you have your priorities right, when the layout is covering most of your desk. What exactly does Railway Technology involve? Sounds like an interesting course.
Cheers,

David

Haha, happily next year me and joe have agreed that the front room will be home to both our layouts so will have a bit more room to work on them (and uni work of course lol)

The course at the momment has introduced us to the basics (track, electrics, Signalling, materials, telecoms etc) and we specialise in a chosen subject in our third year

Sounds interesting, and also like something that might be happening at Derby uni, am I right?

I did Transport Design at uni, which as great fun. We got to design a car for Morgan and meet Patrick Stewart. However, the lecturers hadn't a clue about railways. In the last year I designed a new and improved cab for a class 66 (with improved safety and comfort and all that). In every tutorial I seemed to be teaching the lecturers about railways. Our lecturer for the technical report's idea of a moden diesel loco was a Western Hydraulic!

Ahh, uni days.....
Cheers,

David
