Northallerton
« on: September 27, 2014, 08:48:37 PM »
well today i paid a visit to Kirky at the Cleveland model railway club, to see the layout "northallerton" and i must say im impressed already. good size and being someone who works there alot its very accurate!

nice smooth operation (aslong as it wasnt the class 70! :P ) full length trains, plenty operation, was great to watch and some great video spots! and i was even lucky enough to send a north eastern visitor through on a railtour (bittern as silver link).

so here as promised kirky is the video of northallerton!

i look forward to the next opportunity to video this great layout and look forward to its progression!

next time though sir nigel gresley WILL be heard steaming along the line (and possibly cromwell if its overhauled in time!)

Great to see some full length trains running.

Nice video Paul. Some nice rakes of wagons and coaches there.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Hi Paul
Many many thanks for posting the video. It's spoiled somewhat by the occasional appearance of a couple of fat blokes!
We had a great day playing trains yesterday and apart from that 70 most stuff ran well. And just so everyone knows, that is the first kettle we've had on Northallerton, and I think you might have edited out the class 67 I made you stick on the back. But in all seriousness I was impressed how well it he A4 performed. I'm trying to decide if I should sir Nigel  in preserved livery for rail tours.

Next on the list of stuff to do, is just to sort out the odd poor connection and then we will have a long stretch of scenic modelling.

Did you get to York ok Paul?

Cheers Kirky
Ps to mods, is there a way to merge this thread with the other Northallerton thread, in my sig?

Thats no problem at all john! I really enjoyed it!

I wouldnt edit out the support on th back, it is an a4 after all :p

Yeh i got to york ok, was good down there also seen some different things learnt some different things!

I think you should definatly get a locomotive for railtours, breaks up the mosern vibe abit. If you get gresley in lner blue you can run blue greys and pullmans in a set and it would look right. Or you could get tornado or something like that and use crimson cream stock.

I look forward to the next time i get to see your layout :)

Kind regards

Paul

Cheers Paul, you're welcome anytime. Btw, I heard you made a very kind donation to the club, so thanks for that, most kind.

Any steam rail tour we run will have to run with stock we already have. So I'm afraid it's maroon and blood & custard mk 1s cos that's what's on me loft layout. I'm not buying a full rake of Pullmans, much as I like them. Anyway my  train money is allocated to two more rakes of coal hoppers.

Cheers
Kirky
