Interesting thought. Could be quite difficult to orchestrate I imagine, but would be good to see what the offers were. I'm a cut throat capitalist wanting to turn a profit, so I wouldn't get involved either :-)

Bidders email to a dedicated email with an offer in pounds in the subject and address for delivery in the body of the email.

You simply sort the emails with the biggest number first.

Mmm, it's all the peripheral stuff - do you share the value of 'bids' after the fact? What if people want it, for clarity, what if someone doesn't want it known what they've paid? Then there are accusations of favouritism or opacity. As a commercial entity conducting an auction do you need any special permissions or licences etc? Could someone buy all 20?

It's one of those things which certainly could work, or could be a spectacular failure!

You've hit the nail on the head about the problems of a sealed bids auction, but I don't think they are illegal- estate agents do them all the time.
running in is so you get used to the noise, oops, to bed the gears down properly

I would presume any surplus would be sold through the Revolution Trains preferred retail outlets or at a show such as York from the display stand.....

No, its an auction not a gamble.  Also you must have a minimum sale value of at least the original selling price.

I never said illegal - I said (and I genuinely don't know) I wasn't sure if you needed a licence as a commercial entity engaging in such activities.

I would presume any surplus would be sold through the Revolution Trains preferred retail outlets or at a show such as York from the display stand.....

Mike and Ben have said they may have a limited number of units to sell once they've distributed all other ones (ie and any lost in transit or damaged on arrival have been accounted for). I can't see why they'd pass them onto their retail network rather than just sell direct, but perhaps I'm wrong. At a show seems more likely, but surely they won't be in that position by York. If I were them I'd sit on the stock for a while, just in case people only test theirs a month down the line or something.

PM sent via www.revolutiontrains.com on whether I can collect the model at the York show.

As York's not far from where I live and I'm planning to attend the show anyway, it's much less hassle than experiencing a failed postal or courier delivery.
(and speak to both Mike and Ben too ...)

Hello all,

After three years of development work and the loss of some of the few strands of hair I had left, Rapido have come through: The Pendolinos are here!

For more information and details see the news article on our website, and there is a video showing just how many boxes there are on the baby_pendo facebook page.

It's going to take a while for Mike and I to get these packed and posted - please bear with us!

And thanks again to everyone who stepped forward and made this a reality.

We will be at the York show so if anyone wants to collect their model there please email us on info@revolutiontrains.com quoting your order number.

Cheers

Ben A.

Really excited now... not long before we all are playing WCML trains ....

Thank you so much Ben and Mike and the Rapido team for all your efforts and workmanship. It is truly appreciated and a wonderful achievement.

Cheers, Timmo

Hi Ben & Mike,

Take a bow guys.

Then a deep breath and good luck with the packing - hope you have plenty of tape, boxes and stamps 😁

Best regards

Iain

Looking forward to this immensely. Can't wait to get mine from Rapido! Not looking forward to the hit on my credit card for the balance though!  :o
Still planning a layout...
