Anyone on the forum know Ozy IRL?   With all that's going on in the world I'd just like someone to check in on him to make sure he's okay!

Last time I 'spoke' to him, he was just fine, just busy. That was just a week or so ago.

My dear friends,

Thanks for your concern, I am very touched! Happy to report that all is much better now at the Despair Depot - finger is very much on the mend, chickenpox gone and no more yobboes catapulting rocks through my windows (another story...  :-\)

I'm sorry for the lack of updates - not being at work I only have my ancient steam-driven laptop, which has been refusing to recognise my iPhone and making it hard to upload pics, but I've found a workaround...

So what have I been up to...? Well, I have managed to get in a bit of workbench time, some of which I've taken pics of!

While my finger was on the mend and fine loco work was beyond me, I kept my sanity by reverting to Airfix kits - a Hurricane and a Junkers 88. Given I only had one and a half hands, I was pretty pleased with these two!:

Finally some loco work (lots more on the go too!)... Remember that rather blobby EM2? Here she is, glazed and lined. She's come out rather well...:

A Minitrix Ivatt gets the green treatment:

The LSWR 700, very nearly complete - I really like this livery!:

The Porterbrook Deltic is getting there - I just need to make the proper light cluster...:

There is much, much more on the go which I will get updates on as soon as I can - in the meantime I hope you are all keeping safe and well!

Best wishes to you all,

Ozymandias

Are you seriously telling me that the piece of painted plastic I sent to you and the EM2 are the same thing?
Sometimes (ok often) I'm very jealous of your skills. :D

I promise you, it's the same loco! The pantographs are new, though... The Ivatt is also yours... :)

Glad to hear things are improving for you Gideon. That Junkers in particular looks good.  (The loco's don't look too bad either!).

Am I the only one who gets frustrated that with only one and a half hands his workmanship is STILL better than most of ours?

 ;D

He's also getting crafty, he's positioned all his loco shots so that you can't see other progress in the background, the rotter.

Oh well, good to see progress, it's hard to believe that hunk of junk electric now looks like that. Who says you can't polish a turd?

Top work.

Right there with you!   Maybe one day...

Just glad everything's largely back to normal again here :)

Yeah, what is that blue model in the background, the one with the white roof panels?   I have to say that seeing the improving fortunes of that EM2 makes me think of all the scrapped full-size loco's and stock that have been lovingly brought back into the light over the years and all the hard work that went into those too.   Ozy's Avatar looks like a case in point - not certain, but I think that might be poor Olton Hall before she was given a second life and went Hogwarts bound.

Ross.

Sorry, hiding other ongoing things out of shot was by accident, not design!! ;D

The blue and white model actually isn't blue and white - that's just the masking tape and newspaper stopping yellow paint getting all over the body!

It's actually a class 47 which is royal maroon under the masking - it's going to be one of the royal trains... :)
