Q1-rerun
« on: April 15, 2014, 05:35:19 PM »
well my friend at Pooleys Puffers got the latest batch of Q1s in, and he has me a Q1 numbered C1 put to one side until i get paid. i had a good look at it though and compared it to the original which he still had! and to be honest, the term re-run is right, no difference at all, even though C1 does look stunning, so that will be my first southern tender engine on moorside, to go with the southern terrier. all i need now is some bullieds!

My Q1 was bought from West Wales Wagon Works at the N-Gauge Society's show on the day it was first released- five minutes before the show opened.  I put it straight on "Farndon Road" (Mk1), forgetting to lubricate and it ran for 6 hours before I remembered.  With a half-hour stop for lubrication and weathering it ran the whole of the two days.

George Smith's comment when he saw it on the Sunday afternoon were "I go to the trouble of making nice new models and you lot muck them up".

Over the weekend it ran about 1.2 miles (actual, not scale).  It has run reliably ever since.

Picture shows it on Mr Simon's "Gresby" about2 years ago.

Enjoy your Q1.
Les

That's a great picture, Les
The weathering/loco crew and the 'glum' sky set it off perfectly.
