David Hey and Paul Claxton photo collections
« on: December 03, 2019, 05:20:35 PM »
For anyone interested in the real railway, especially in the 50s and 60s,and you have a few days to spare, may I suggest;

http://www.davidheyscollection.com/

The David Hey collection is a myriad of photos, by a number of authors, covering a myriad of subjects and locations.

Most photos are b+w, but there are a number in colour; the latter are particularly useful for us modellers.

There are links to other sites of interest also.

May I also suggest;

http://www.railpictorial.com/piwigo/index.php

mainly B+W.

Most of England and Scottish main lines (especially ex LMR/LMS) are covered, at least in the collections I've looked at so far, but I haven't so far seen much of Wales or East Anglia.

Just had a quick look.
It is certainly comprehensive, something to dip in and out of over some time I think.
Thanks for the link.

If it looks right then it most probably is right.

Bumped into Paul Claxton at a Wimpy Bar in Bloemfontein back in 1976 when he was working as a (railway) fireman there.
