Warning...not one for the purists!!!
« on: January 31, 2014, 10:34:15 PM »
Unique small model railway layouts

Having received some very encouraging and complementary comments about Janet's Reward my first layout, as requested I said I'd post a bit more of my stuff. This one's kind of self explanitary!!!!!!

Not everyone's cup of tea but it's a bit different and Joe Public seem to like it when it gets a run out.

Someone posted the comment on Youtube that 'this is why N gauge is treated as a joke' and advised me to 'get a life'........ :P.......Don't know about you guys but I've never known N gauge to be treated as anything other than a sensible alternative to OO, however there must always be room for a little fun in our hobby. ;D

ps please don't chuck me off the forum!! :worried:

It must be that old Farish 08 you're using.  Personally I didn't take N seriously until they brought the latest one out :D

Love the massive tolerance on the old Class 08's axles.....bet the new one wouldn't find its way safely round those tight radius bends!! :claphappy:

Lots of fun... I'm sure I have seen at least some of your work at local shows - the Lions Club in Chichester earlier in the year perhaps?

Anything Japanese (or potentially Japanese) grabs my attention - is your underground unit a Tomix KiHa01?

Hi Claude,

Yep that was me...minus Pooh Corner, which will get rolled out at this year's Lions club Show.....can I say rolled out?!

Yes good spot on the Tomix Railcar I picked up a pair on ebay....thought they would make reasonable single car underground trains, they're great but I have to run them a little quick in order for there to be enough juice going through the shuttle control unit.

Look forward to seeing you at this years show.

Regards

Jason

Brilliant stuff and very entertaining. Thanks for the look. Anyone who doesn't like this doesn't do humour.

Jason - your scenic work is really excellent, craftsmanship top notch and the video is beautifully produced too.

I would encourage you to move on to perhaps more "serious" layouts; not because in any way your toilet seat baseboards bring N-gauge into disrepute (!) :D but because I think your obvious talents could produce some absolutely stunning results.

...of course, you can choose to do what you want with your time...but if you need a nudge....!!!!!  And help if you need it on here.

Cheers  Jon   :)

PS - by "serious", I don't mean that we shouldn't be having fun!

Excellent Video, brilliant novel idea and your modelling is a very high standard!

Am I getting the 'West Ham United vibe' due to the uptown trucks and the blowing bubbles sign? :D

Absolutely brilliant! Good original ideas and cleverly executed, especially the basin tap and cistern handle as controls 8)

Well said mate, I think it's THEM that need to get a life ;)

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments, I am truly overwhelmed :-[ So glad you all 'got it'

Pleased you saw the West Ham connection....even more pleased they've just finished two- nil up at home as I type this!!!!!.....I'm going to have to have a lie down :o

I think I'm going to struggle to top this as far as novelty layouts go for a bit so you'll be glad to hear I'm working on two serious projects , a railway gun layout...well more of an animated diorama really and I'm at the planning stage of a Unitrack end to end for which I've already received some great feedback on my Ideas from you guys so thanks again for that.

I have built another larger layout called Rodneybridge which I'll post the vid of shortly.

Over the moon to have discovered this forum and thrilled to be part of it.......I am no longer modelling alone. :beers:

Cheers all

Jason
