Many thanks, Chris. (Pauline is also a very good photographer.) The 'donor' Class 47 was a recent DCC Ready one so I think it's the factory height.

Oh i understand now, old body new dcc chassis? I was scratching my head over what had been done to the body as i have that exact one in my spares box and it looks a perfect match... Also explains why my newer body has the extra headlight then too.  (GF371-825A)

Oh no, it's a 'new' body, too. I had bought an old Graham Farish D1662 and asked Pauline to put the body on a new DCC Ready Class 47 chassis: no can do! she replied. So the old Graham Farish D1662 is at BRLines as it got damaged in the post whilst what you see is a new Graham Farish DCC Ready (was a very nice InterCity liveried) Class 47 'renewed' as D1662 body an all!

For super detailed I give you a sister unit (rule one applies too!) fitted with a four function DCC decoder to allow for prototypical lighting as each led is separately wired to a function (so i can even run with a lamp out!) and correctly weathered. She was IKB originally but renamed at the birth of my daughter D1505....

Ah, but Pauline removed the sealed-beam headlamp unit from my Class 47! 8-)

And red-backed nameplates only came in with BR Blue livery, I remember them all in black.

I was lucky enough to win one in an N.G.S. magazine competition. See, someone's got to win and I was delighted to receive it!

It looks lovely! IKB along with GJC were always favourites, probably because of the length of the plates. Although they were blue when I first laid eyes on them.

THank you but the kudos goes to Pauline McKenna (I just bought the late model Class 47 and coughed up the money!) Unfortunately, I never saw "IKB" except in BR Blue as an ex-work 1662 (I think the nameplates were still with a black background then) but I DD see "GJC" in BR Green with the original length nameplate. (Later it had a replacement set with the name shortened to G.J. Churchward. Sacrilege! 8-) In fact, apart from "IKB" I saw all the original (G)WR named Class 47s in two-tone green.

Sacrilege indeed! It was the really long plates (or the really short ones) that were special to my younger self. Once it was shortened it just wasn't the same!

D1660 City of Truro
D1665 Titan
D1674 Samson

but I 'copped' the rest :)
