NGS Collett BG
« on: January 25, 2014, 06:41:03 PM »

Hello all,

I have added some CAD drawings of the new NGS Collett BG into an album.

It's cleared to go to tooling now, with just some minor changes to the bogies.

Unfortunately I can't work out how to add the images in the gallery into this posting - the "insert image" button puts in some code but there seems no way of selecting the item, or navigating away from here to find the code without losing this post.

If Mods can help then great - or view them in the gallery.   Any feedback welcome!

cheers

Ben A.

Here you go, Ben.
Look for the BBC embed code (smg id.....) , copy it then paste it into your post :)

Thanks for sorting that!

I looked for the codes but couldn't work out how to navigate away and back from the "new topic" page each time to get the next one... or am I supposed to write them all down?

cheers

Ben A.

I usually open up a second tab with the album open, then I can copy and paste the SMG ID= code from one tab to t'other...

Yup - that's the easiest way I find :)

I was just looking at that in journal 5/13 this morning! The new pics are impressive - you folks are doing a great job with it, Ben! Mouth wateringly so!

Does anyone know if there has been any recent update on delivery schedules for these?

The last ref I can see on the NGS site is back in Sept when CAD drawings were received and final livery choices made and the above postings are more recent then that.

Hello folks

There is an update in the next Journal (due out shortly). The basic summary is:
- Dapol had a few corrections to make based on the last CAD
- When those were complete the tooling could start and Dapol estimated that late-April to May might see first prototype/ test shots.
- if the test shot is correct then delivery could be late September

Cheers, Mike

So probably not in time for TINGS but might make Warley?

Hi Ben,

Just a thought looking at the rather delightful cad/cam. I seem to remember that the windows on the doors were a different height and the datum either at the top or bottom was different.

Has this been replicated on the coach?

Cheers

There is a thread on 'another forum' which has more details on the multiple attempts at getting the NGS model correct - the body was deemed correct (barring corrections to end steps and roof detail) fairly early on, the main issues were with underframe and bogie design, particularly getting the bogies looking right, if not actually correct.

Hi Talisman,

Oooops, I'll open my eyes more in future. Lol
I've contacted Ben as the cad still doesn't look right regarding the door windows. But as I have found out in my past life, the cad/cams can be deceptive from certain angles.

I know when Ben and I crawled over the Didcot example the window sizes stood out like a sore thumb.

And at this time it still gives the guys a chance to correct if I'm right or laugh out loud if it is indeed my eye sight playing tricks.

Cheers

The problem with this, is that this and the next one will now be at Warley. I ordered a couple or more of each and will now have to pay for them all at once when there were meant to be 12 months apart major cash flow issue.
