Many new N-scale projects were added to the site in this and the past year - here are several of them:

David's N-scale Track Plan

N-gauge Shunting Puzzle Diorama

Southern Pine Railroad Layout in N scale (under construction)

Compact N gauge Layout with Fuel/Oil Terminal

Large Modular N-scale Layout (already build)

I hope that you will like these designs and that they will help you with ideas and inspiration for your own current and future track plans :)

Thanks for these images and for creating the website.

Great ideas shown and they act as both inspiration and control for my own ideas. Maybe I won't be able to build the while of the Swiss network on 6' by 6' L-shaped layout after all! :D

For track planning software that's completely free it has to be the best, not only that the site is continually growing with its updates.

Anyone today charging for their software must be slightly concerned that you are giving so much to the hobby.

Well done Mixy excellent work

David

See one nice design of a large N-scale layout, deployed on two scenic levels:

Hope you will like it :)

Another vote for SCARM here, Track laying ease is hard to beat, took me a little longer to get some of the buildings going but getting there now. Just working on this design at present for a 1.6m x 0.9m layout.

When finished I'll upload some files, my buildings are rather basic but are dimensionally correct.

Great looking layout!  ;)

I will be glad to publish about it also in the SCARM train layout projects & track plans database.

When will the train simulator be updated to use more stock and throttles? Will there be any British outline stock available? I've already had hours of fun playing with the free stuff it's a brilliant way to see if your plans will work.

My plan was to make more rolling stock and more simultaneous running trains available for Christmas, but there is still a lot of work, so probably these will appear in the beginning of the next year. Right now I am working over European (mostly German) and North American (US) rolling stock. For British rolling stock there will be a steamer, diesel and several coaches, passenger and freight types. But these may appear later in time. Check www.scarm.info/blog each week as everything new in SCARM appears in the blog first :)

Cheers I look forward to the British stock as It will let you test your layout before even laying the first piece of track So you will know that your siding's head shunt etc work for your operations also where to put decouplers coaling stations etc. So much more will be available in the planning stages rather than making It up as you go along It could potentially save a fair amount of time and money in wasted track and later alterations.

Here I want to show one interesting idea of a layout that is already under construction: single track route for using with rolling stock in two scales - standard gauge N (1/160) and narrow gauge HOe (1/87), all on 9mm gauge model tracks.

Small Folding Layout For Use in Both H0e and N scales

The track plan is designed in SCARM as single line in “double 8” figure with one small station in front and train stop at the back. The layout is planned to allow exchanging of the buildings, signals and some other parts depending on the current rolling stock scale – N (1/160) or narrow gauge H0e (1/87). The guy who builds this layout has prepared different stations and surrounding buildings, different types of signals and different locos and coaches. Only the tracks and the grass will be the same in both scales. Check the link to see more pictures in the two different setups. Hope you will like that :)

.. The guy who builds this layout has prepared different stations and surrounding buildings, different types of signals ...

neat idea nicely executed. I too subscribe to modular scenic elements: buildings are easier to construct and maintain; easily switch eras; switch a private siding between industries - a cement works morphs into a steel stockholder morphs into a fuel farm.

I am glad that you like the above project :)

Here are the new N scale layouts, published in the site from the beginning of this year:

The Train Layout with The Old Castle (N gauge)

Nice layout with precise designed virtual buildings (all are from real kits) with many details and rich decorations.

A Small Layout in the Kid's Room in N Scale

This project represents a whole room with bed on the upper level and all the furniture for L-shaped layout with buildings and rolling stock on it.

Hope you will like these projects too :)
