Hi,

I've been working on my N Gauge KWVR Inspired railway for 12 months now, and i'm finally nearing the stage where i can start running trains up and down it!!!  :bounce:

I am looking to try and purchase a number of trains that represent what is run on the actual railway, and already have a 2MT and 4F to start the collection. I have my eye on the WD 8F and can't wait to get my hands on one!!

2 Locos i really like but am unable to find are the L&Y Ironclad, and the LNWR Coal Tank. I've looked at some M7s and pondered over whether that could be tinkered with to make a coal tank, but i wouldnt really feel comfortable stripping down a £70 train try and make it into something for the risk of breaking it.

Does anyone know if thee are any kits or RTR locos that would be suitable?

Thanks

Ben

N Brass did the coal tank many years ago - it's a real rarity however.

Think you may have to scratchbuild 957 however - but at least it's an 0-6-0 with a parallel boiler !

Its a parallel boiler loco with flat running plate for the most part. You can buy a wide range of domes and chimneys etc so its a length of tubing a plasticard base and cab sides and off you go  8)

The best book on the subject btw is Ahern - it's such an old book N gauge didn't really exist as a mainstream scale, and it's way out of date on technologies and glues but for the basics it can't be touched

Where can i get boilers and chimneys from? I know BR Lines do a few bits, but not sure where else to look? Might give it a go!

N Brass are the best source of details by far. For a parallel boiler try and find the diameter of the real one and then go and buy a length of pipe that diameter. Eileens stock brass tube in a variety of diameters which is ideal if a little pricy, but you may find a match in the plumbers or similar !
