Thank you Mickster04, I'm a little technically challenged. In fact I had to have my dear wife download the pictures from my phone to the computer for me.

My In-Laws are in their mid 80's and are unable to even use the TV remote these days and are unwilling to learn. I really don't want to end up like that but I see how I'm falling behind with technology already.

Hi Jamie,

Don't worry too much. Firstly you are not alone. I'm rubbish with computers and also had (still have a lot of the time) to get my dear wife to do the technical stuff.

Secondly, and most importantly, she works in IT and finds it a strange and frustrating system.

Now the moderators will come in saying it's simple but it's being explained to me and she's at work, too tired or watching the X factor or something.

I have to use her mobile phone camera for pics and have trouble doing that!

Keep up the good work at what is looking a great layout.

Cheers weave  :beers:

I managed to get some more track down this weekend and I also got about half the droppers done on what I have laid. I still have to finish the other half and install the point motors. Not looking forward to that. Good thing is I seem to have nailed this soldering malarky, one of the easiest parts of doing all this.

The TMD and freightliner terminal have not been named yet, you'd have thought I would have come up with names by now. The freightliner crane needs to painted yellow also.

I need to build up the back right hand corner and add scenery. As you can see the main lines will pass through a short tunnel where the portals are situated. The outer 2 lines are passenger (main) lines the inner 2 lines are relief (freight) lines. There are 2 freight siding lines outside the TMD for re-crewing freight trains.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Hi Jamie,

Good to see the layout developing, also good to see that you are making use of what looks like old polystyrene blocks. I am all for using materials in modelling that otherwise can't be recycled. I guess you could end up getting through quite a lot of polystyrene for formers!
Very impressive, but I don't envy the amount of ballasting etc you have in store.

Cheers,
Paul

I have made some progress in the last few weeks.

I've added a new Station, 5 tracks with 2 passing through middle road for non stop express trains. 3 platforms comprising and island and single platform all capable of holding 10 coaches trains. There is a freighliner terminal and a steel terminal/depot.  I have constructed a new TMD with a carriage shed alongside and 2 loops off the freight lines to re-crew freight trains outside the traincrew depot/TMD.

I have 2 more boards to build and all this wiring to button up then I can start running trains and concentrating on the scenery and town scenes.

I just spent all weekend chasing an electrical short in the carriage shed/TMD area and did not get it done. I see me spending a lot more hours chasing this problem before I get it fixed.

Feeling FRUSTRATED right now. :censored: :censored: :censored:

I had a short then it went away and now it's back again. I disconnected all the Seep PM1's and connected them one at a time and everything was working good. Then it came back again. Now I have them all disconnected and there is still a short somewhere.

Slow deep breaths.........

Jamie
