Hi guys, has any one out there built a Tavern car set in N gauge?

I am looking at doing a set for my West of England rake and am interesting in any ideas/pointers etc.

Best wishes

Simon,

Allen at Worsley Works might have something:
http://www.worsleyworks.co.uk/2mm/2mm_Southern_Bulleids.htm
This would be etched body and underframe only - you'd need to find bogies, roof, underframe fittings etc.

Regards,
Neil

I'm thinking these might be prime candidates for Electra vinyls. I would need plans and photos, though.

More of a stripey EMU man myself but always looking for new things to have a go at :-)

Oo yes please, especially if you did the crimson and cream version with imitation brickwork and tumber framing one end.
Would just need to sort correct details for the underframes and roofies.
Best wishes

Model Railway Constructor Planbook: Bulleid Coaches No. 1 (Model railway construction planbook)

This plan book by S.W.Stevens- Stratten is a really good reference book with plans for all Bulleid Coaches including the Tavern sets. You can get it from Amazon for 20

Many thanks for the pointers. Out of curiosity, would the Farish Bulleid coaches be suitable donors?

The advantage of using the bulleid stock is correct profiles sides/roof etc mostly correct underframes and bogies? will need extra boxes etc but not difficult.
Disadvantage, the have lots of detail, not smooth sides like the farish mk1s.
Using mk1 as a badis, would need lots of additional work on roof and underframes.
I suggest that yes the Farish Bulleids would be the more suitable donor.
Best wishes

Your best bet may be to get in touch with Simon Dawson at Rue d'Etropal. He loves knocking out 3D coach designs, almost at the drop of a hat. I'm currently working on the LSWR ex-royal saloon in its 1930 guise.

Heh! I'm not far off finishing the saloon. I'll report when I've taken all the production pics, but it's already looking very nice ;)
