« on: May 04, 2019, 06:27:41 PM »
"The DSP, part of Endemol Shine UK, documentary ‘The Yorkshire Steam Railway: All Aboard’ was watched by more than 3.5 million last year. Series Two airs on Channel 5 on Friday 17 May, at 8pm. Scheduled to run for six weeks, the documentary will go behind the scenes meeting the staff and volunteers that keep the railway on track. "

Incidentally, the NYMR has just been awarded £4.4 million in Lottery funding. Details - https://www.nymr.co.uk

A bit more info -

"Chris Price, General Manager at NYMR, said: “This series viewers will see many of the challenges that faced the railway last season, including operating a heritage steam railway in a prolonged heatwave which presented challenges in securing enough diesel engines to ensure the railway delivered on its published timetable. Season two highlights also include, Boilersmith, Mark O’Brien’s special day as he marries Emma at Pickering Station. Burt Blower training recruit Adrian as a Travelling Ticket Inspector and Piglet visits the Wensleydale Railway as NELPG locomotive J27 goes for her summer vacation".

"The show also highlights three of our most popular events; the Annual Steam Gala, Railway in Wartime and the Halloween Service Train, which showcase the railway at its best, attracting thousands of passengers to the line. Viewers can enjoy the railway’s themed RAF 100 Steam Gala, which sees General Manager, Chris, visit his old railway Talyllyn Railway, in preparation of No. 6 Douglas making a special appearance".

For those who may or may not be interested, the station cat who featured in first series returns in this series. S/he has been adopted by our club Chairman Ray, who may also be in the programme. I'll be watching on catch up as Mrs Kirky has promised me a night out.
Cheers
Kirky
