Met up with friend Rob at Leyland station this morning and The Fellsman hove into view bang on time at 08.48. Beautifully turned out Britannia and a rake of immaculate MK1/MK2 Saphos Train travel carriages in crimson/cream including a Generator Coach on the back AND NO DISEASEL!!!!!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/kpplvmods4xt0zw/70000%20Britannia%20on%20the%20Fellsman%2029.5.MOV?dl=0

After the train had departed Rob and I crossed to the No.1 platform and had a chat when I heard a noise, turned round and, lo and behold, class 47 D1944 in two tone green with SYP came through light engine about 20 mins after the Fellsman had departed. We took the view the class 47 driver had stopped for a fag and cuppa somewhere and was trying to catch Britannia up :D

mick

thank you,i glad you enjoyed the morning - glad you met rob. the fact that britannia was so clean must have been testament to the crews and how  much hardwork it was.

There are several clips of the run on YouTube and none show a chip fat fryer hanging off the back so it must have been a coincidence the class 47 came through Leyland light engine not long after the Brit.
Which was nice :)

47501 the craftsman. D 1944. Two tone green would have been the loco for attaching at preston to hellifield to allow britannia to haul north. I have seen the youtube clips
