Union Mills Stock and Prices as at 3 April 2019
« on: April 04, 2019, 03:19:18 PM »
Hello Chums

Excitement+++ at the Table-Top Railway today, as the new Union Mills list arrived in the post.

Re-runs of the 'D16', 'B12', 'Prince of Wales' and the 'T9'.  Some have new numbers and some have the numbers of previous models.

For us LNWR/LMS enthusiasts, the 'PoW' locomotives are No. 86 Mark Twain (LNWR) and No. 5604 Enchantress (LMS), as before, although the list does not mention the names.

Here's the list, if my dodgy photography is up to it:-

Great news!

Toodle-pip.

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1920s to the 1950s.

I see that the J11 is not on the list - I wonder if he will be making any more?

Alex

Hello Alex and John

My understanding is that Union Mills makes an initial batch of 200 and then follow-on batches of 25 if sales warrant it.

On 10 May 2018, Mr Heard sent out list No. 109 which included a lot of locomotives built up from spare parts and it stated, 'Many are not likely to be made again and we may have only one or two of each type.'  The 'J11' and the 'J27' were on that list.  But, I think there might be hope!  The 'B12/3', 'D16/3', 'T9' and 'Prince of Wales' were also on the list and these have just been re-released.  Yes, the last three are amongst the more recent introductions, but the 'B12/3' has, I think, been around for a while.

Perhaps, through the Forum, we could gauge interest in some of the not-available models.  Maybe, just maybe, if we could get anywhere near 25 then Union Mills might be open to a very polite request...

Please note that I have no connection with, or privileged knowledge about, Union Mills.  I am that rarity in the modern world; a completely satisfied customer.  And, yes, I'd put my name down for a 'J11' and a 'J27' in LNER livery.  Or, Great Central and North Eastern!

With best wishes.

John

Down in the Antipodes, Union Mills appears like a will-o'-the-wisp.  Can someone enlighten me as to how one goes about getting one?  A net search reveals virtually nothing.

AFAIK the only way is by phoning the number on the flyer, armed with your credit card details - drop the leading zero and replace with whatever your phone system requires as the prefix for UK numbers, should be 44 but I don't know if you'd need to prefix that with anything else as well.

I'm in Australia and I have a number of UM locos. The procedure is to send him an email (address in an earlier comment) saying what you want. Point out that you are in Oz, as the postage is more - but still very reasonable. Colin will get back to you (usually very quickly) with the total price.

I prefer to ring him (about 10am UK time seems to work for everyone) and give credit card details over the phone. Once that is done your model will appear quite quickly. The Isle of Man has the same international telephone code as the UK (44).

Overall, excellent service even for those at the End Of The World (Tasmania).

Neil

Thanks; I've actually been lurking (as a member) for a couple of years so certainly agree that people are helpful and (probably most important of all on any board) generally polite to one another.
