NS Double decker set DDM
« on: March 01, 2011, 12:21:28 AM »
We have the Fleischmann 1700 and now the Minitrix 1800 so why no 4 car DDM double decker set.
Have great memories of theese locos hauling theese from Schiphol to Amsterdam.
Amsterdam -Enkhuizen, Zandvoort, Utrecht yet can not recreate this in minature.
Sure theese would sell like hot cakes as an attractive small train to run on your layout as only 4 cars and a loco.
I would buy at least 2 to use on Amstel Station :P
So why have maufacturers not produced any?
Hornby who own Rivarossi are updating the old Lima HO model so as they own Arnold why can they not shrink them?

Might be worth an email to the company to see if they are going to produce them, you never know your luck  :)

I'd be in the market for one, but actually I'd prefer an affordable 3- or 4-car Koploper EMU.

Hello all! Hope its okay if I jump in here!  :)

I agree, on my very few visits to the NL, my impressions of the DDM's - and the Koplopers - stuck with me!  Fortunately, I was the lucky winner of the later just recently (thanks to Google Translate and its ability to (barely) help me navigate the Dutch Marketplaats.nl site (which is where the Dutch seem to have all their good stuff up for sale, forget ebay!)) and was able to land this set:

Fortunately (and sad to say, rarely with Minitrix), the NEM 651 socket worked without a hitch (I run DCC obviously) and I was able to get this set up and running.  The motor is LOUD compared to more modern releases, but I just pretend its a sound chip and go with it....  ;D

Specific to the DDM, I found this website, but have difficulty trying to figure out how to order, etc.... but apparantly they have produced a craftsman level kit of the DDM?

Some nice stuff on that site. I also like the NS and Benelux driving trailers.
They seem reluctant to divulge their prices, you need to fill in a page full of details, suggesting they are high.

Okay, here's my three latest additions!  Quite a motley crew!  :) While I love the look of the Koplopers, I have to say, they are a bit like a beautiful women.....who remains beautiful until she 'opens her mouth' (for the women on this forum, please reverse the analogy!)!  My point being...they sound like coffee grinders when they run!  :'(   The 150 from GF is virtually silent compared to these two!
